MontBell Alpine Light Down Jacket - Men's

MontBell Alpine Light Down Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 30, 2009

I've tried the Patagonia, sent it back, way too bulky and short, I've tried the Mont Bell UL, sent it back (very nice but too much of an Inner Layer) This Alpine Light is where it's at, although I got the parka which I don't seem to see on BC.com!! This is also the best jacket I've ever owned, Its cut is superb, I'm 6'3" and around 200 lbs but pretty lean an athletic, and the only gripe I'd say I have is it could be a tad bit longer in the torso, but again I have a long torso and its def not bad enough that I would send this one back, b/c the rest of it makes up for it and fits like it is custom cut. I called and spoke with a rep at MB and he said that their LG down jackets run one inch shorter in the back the the XL so its very similar, I think it was 28' from neck to waist. It's warmth to weight ratio is absolutely stunning, and when you put it on you cant even feel it's there. 10/10 Great value!

The best of the bunch...

SmartWool Adventurer Crew Socks - Men's

SmartWool Adventurer Crew Socks - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 26, 2009

These are the most comfortable if all of SmartWools socks IMHO. These are not the 'Hiking' line, these are the 'Ultra Comfy' line which is the more casual wear and less elastic. They are extremely soft, almost luxuriously soft. I've got 2 pair of the Adventurer and 2 pair OF THE Street Hiker, and have been wearing them almost everyday this winter. I tend to sweat a lot in my boots and these seem to curb the moisture much better then synthetic socks. I highly recommend these and all SmartWools products for a range of casual and athletic wear. 10/10

MontBell Ultralight Down Parka - Men's

January 15, 2009

Does the length of this jacket differ when going from a L to an XL? MB's website doesnt have measurements from top of collar to bottom of waist, only waist size, arms, inseam etc. I'm 6'4" and about 200lbs, pretty trim and athletic and got the XL. It seems perfect in the arms and lengthwise but quite baggy in the waist area which makes me wonder if I could have sized down to a L which is what I typically wear (pretty much the same concern one of the previous posters voiced) I would be concerned about the L being to short for my torso and in the arms if I were to exchange it...Again, does anyone know if the lengths differ in each the L and XL (from the collar to the bottom of the waist hem)?

MontBell Ultralight Down Parka - Men's

December 25, 2008

Is this jacket warm enough to wear as an everyday down in 20-30 degree temps, without a shell to bum around town etc? I love the packability of it but I'm concerned it wont be warm enough from all the comments about how light it is, it sounds like its not filled to much. I'd consider the next heaviest MB down...Any thoughts?
