A few tips to make these even better

Black Diamond Ascension Nylon STS Skins

Black Diamond Ascension Nylon STS Skins

Some tips for kicking ass with skins: If the skins will be dedicated to one pair of skis, sew the tip loop. Use a file to notch the tail of your ski so the sts clip can't slide off to the sides. When regluing, screw BD's advice of soaking glue up with paper: use the paper to protect your iron, get the glue hot over a section of skin, then use a metal scraper to remove glue like it was a hotwax job on your ski.

Hippies at Gregory love cookies

Gregory Targhee Backpack - 1900-2200cu in

Gregory Targhee Backpack - 1900-2200cu in

Rating for this product: 5 December 2, 2009

I have an older gregory pack, started to fall apart after several tough years. I sent it in to gregory along with some homemade cookies, and they basically rebuilt it with fresh fabric/zippers, did an awesome job making custom changes that I wanted, and got it back to me in a few days. So, if you get this pack and it isn't up to par, bake the dankest cookies possible and they might make it perfect for you.

Included saw has pros and cons

Voile T6 Tech Shovel

Voile T6 Tech Shovel

Rating for this product: 4 December 2, 2009

Great bomber shovel, it has dug through avy debris, a lot of pits, and road gravel no problem. Only gripe is that if you take the saw out of handle you can't put shovel back together: in other words the saw isn't very handy when digging pits. On the other hand, the giant sawzall blade attaches back to the burly long handle, which is sweet for cornice cutting, extreme firewood harvesting, unnecessary amputations, etc.

G3 320 Professional Tech Probe

Deploys quick and you will get used to the nut - but I keep my probe in pack instead of strapped to side. I strapped it to side of pack for a while and had problems with snow freezing on threads. Definitely was not good.

Backcountry Access Slope Meter

These things break. Buy a nice compass with built-in inclinometer. It will be burlier, and is useful for more than 1 thing.

Ortovox D3 Avalanche Beacon

October 5, 2009

From memory - Patroller is like the old X1, which starts in analog then switches to digital once the signal strength/distance gets within good digital range. I had an x1 - hated it, it drifted quick.
