Nice Baselayer

The North Face XTC Midweight 1/4 Zip Long Underwear Top - Women's

The North Face XTC Midweight 1/4 Zip Long Underwear Top - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 December 29, 2008

Seems like a good baselayer. I typically wear a small, and this shirt fits well, not too restrictive. The seams are flat and well-placed and material is comfortable.

As far as being described as too warm, I think that's the whole purpose of a base layer. There is a small graphic on the sleeve, but I actually like it. It adds a bit of design to what otherwise would be underwear.

I am happy with my purchase.

Suitable for backpacking

Mountainsmith Quickfire Camera Bag

Mountainsmith Quickfire Camera Bag

Rating for this product: 3 December 29, 2008

I got this primarily for backpacking, as it seems to have features that are more suitable for roughing it. Its compact and well padded and has an attached raincover that will extend over the top and front. I got the small size and it will just fit my Nikon SLR and kit lens or a short tele lens. The shoulder straps are comfortable, and it has plastic loops on side for rigging up any additional belts/attachments. There is a front pocket with some compartments, but it doesn't have too much room to expand. Overall, a fairly simple bag with a few thrills. I'm not sure the tapered form is really a great idea because it limits internal space.
