okay so i'm a little neurotic when it comes to chalk

Metolius Super Chalk

Metolius Super Chalk

Rating for this product: 4 October 2, 2008

I like this chalk a lot, but I have to admit that I custom blend my own chalk - I use this and white gold. I grind both into very fine powder using a hand-held blender and then I mix the two together. I do this because although the drying agent in Super Chalk is awesome, it does more damage to my hands than good when I use it 100% by itself. And White Gold just doesn't stick to my hands as well as Super Chalk and it's also just not as grippey (sp?). But if I can rest frequently then I'm fine with using a higher concentration of White Gold. When I'm going for routes with very few and insecure rests, then I mix in more Superchalk since it also lasts longer.

Yes, I do probably do think about chalk way too much.

Incredible Shoes

Scarpa Booster Climbing Shoe

Scarpa Booster Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 5 August 22, 2008

Like everyone says, these are very painful to break in and even when broken in, they're still not shoes you want to keep on for hours. When it comes to breaking in these shoes, I have to say wearing socks for the first couple weeks actually helps a lot...I can't explain why, but it just does. (I sized my Boosters 1.5 sizes down from my street shoes). Once broken in these shoes are crazy, incredibly powerfully and accurate.

Five Ten Moccasym Slip-on Climbing Shoe

August 21, 2008

well, they usually return anything. sweet costumer service. I would suggest going down 2 sizes (or I guess 1.5 would be okay) from your street shoes. Yeah they're going to be really painful, but trust me in 4 weeks or so they'll fit like a glove.
