The North Face Red Box T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

The North Face Red Box T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 October 17, 2008

it is of good quality, but I was hoping for a plain black T-shirt. What you don't see in the picture above is the huge red box on the back. Shame on me, I suppose - the item is named "Red Box T-Shirt." I thought that referred to the tag on the sleeve...not the big ol' North Face logo splayed across the back.

Very Nice

Twin Six Flyers T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Twin Six Flyers T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 17, 2008

One of my favorite light weight T's. Sized as advertised on the Twin Six site - if you like your T's a bit snug. If you are built with a lower center of gravity and shaped like a fireplug (as I am) you may want to size up.

Prologo Choice MAX Saddle

September 23, 2008

Anybody have any feedback on this saddle? Specifically, I'm curious as to the difference between the MAX and the PRO (with or without the gel cover). Thanks in advance.

Twin Six Brew Pub T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 18, 2008

The shirt is not the heaviest duty, but you're probably buying this for the cool design. At least I did. Do size up though, because no shirt design is rockin' enough to counter looking like you're wearing a man girdle.

Expensive, but it does what it claims

Suunto Cadence POD

Suunto Cadence POD

Rating for this product: 3 September 16, 2008

The cadence pod works just fine as long as you have the "c" class of Suunto watches....er, wristop computers. That is "c" as in t4c or t6c. If not, you'll have to upgrade from your current model.

As for the functionality...it's great to have my cadence information in real-time. If you're a techno-geek or beginner (like me) this item will help.

That being said, I have had a few minor issues. The cadence pod doesn't seem to pair right away with my t6c but it will usually link up before my warm-up ends (0.25miles). Once it is paired with the t6c, it stays paired (no data dropouts). Also, I get abnormally high readings (rpm) if the magnet on the crank arm a) stops at the POD on the frame (as it would the left pedal is at the 12 o'clock position) or b) passes by the sensor backwards.

Suunto Cadence POD

Suunto Cadence POD

Rating for this product: 3 September 16, 2008

Pros - As a technogeek and novice to the cycling world, seeing my cadence real-time has been very helpful. I can make sure I'm spinning in a specific target zone or just use the info to gauge when it is time to shift gears. The pod itself is easy to install and simple in operation (A magnet on the crank arm passes by the pod affixed to the bike frame). It may look like a cheap bit of plastic, but it has held up well on my road bike (No rock damage, haven't clipped it with my shoe, etc.).

Cons - If you have a non "c" class watch...er, wristop computer...from Suunto, you'll have to upgrade to the t3c, t4c, or t6c. Also, I seem to have to pair my Cadence Pod with my t6c at the start of every session. The t6c usually starts picking up the pod by the end of my warmup phase (~0.25 miles) but it can be a bit tricky pairing and pedalling at the same time. Finally, I get abnormal readings (250 rpm) if a) the magnet on crank arm is even with the pod (as it will be if you stretch your right leg and have your left pedal in the 12 o'clock position) or b) pass the magnet on the crank arm clockwise past the Pod (backpedalling is bad).

All said, it doesn't look like much but it works as advertised. It is a bit more expensive than other cadence measuring devices, but since I am a Suunto HR monitor user it is nice to have all the data in one place. I've come to rely on the info and would purchase it again.

Pearl Izumi Quest Road Bike Shoe - Men's

Pearl Izumi Quest Road Bike Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 September 16, 2008

Ok...so it isn't the most expensive or flashiest looking shoe out there, but it works for me. I have a small, wide foot (about a 8 1/2 mens shoe); the size 42 Quest fits comfortably and works well with my Speedplay clipless pedals.

If you just got into cycling and dropped a bundle on the bike itself, these shoes might be just right for your wallet and your feet.

Good for those wanting to get off the couch

Suunto t4c Heart Rate Monitor with Comfort Belt

Suunto t4c Heart Rate Monitor with Comfort Belt

Rating for this product: 4 September 16, 2008

I have since upgraded to the t6c, but before that I used the t4. If you're just starting out on the fitness path, the Coach feature (unique to the t4c within the Suunto family) will be very helpful making sure your new found enthusiasm doesn't lead to overwork and burnout. The data is accurate and reliable. There's a fairly active discussion board over at Suunto's website where you can learn more about the watch before you buy (and/or ask questions after you buy) the watch.

If you're looking to download heaps of information from your workouts this may not be the watch for you. However, if you are looking for something to get you started in the world of heart monitor training...the t4c should do the job.

Yep...it works

Suunto Cadence POD

Suunto Cadence POD

Rating for this product: 4 September 16, 2008

It isn't a very technologically sophisticated device (just the pod and a magnet) and it may look like a fairly cheap bit of plastic...but it does in fact send your cadence information to your Suunto "c" series watch accurately and in real-time. So if your training regimen requires you to spin along within a certain range, this will do the trick (well, this and a Suunto training watch...er, wristop computer). And, if you have a t6c you are probably using STraM...the data will transfer into there as well. Ultimately, despite it's appearance, it has been durable, reliable, and useful. I'd call it a 5-star product if it were only a little less expensive.

Fantastic

Suunto Smart Belt + Docking Station

Suunto Smart Belt + Docking Station

Rating for this product: 5 September 16, 2008

I've got several of the Suunto items and this one is my favorite. It's great to use with a t3 or t4 when you want access to more information. Also, since it stores the data on the belt itself, it is great to use under a tri suit when swimming (from other reviews I've read, some people have had difficulty getting it to work when swimming-I can honestly say that it has worked well for me).

Suunto GPS POD

September 10, 2008

The pod itself fits into an armband which has a velcro strap. You put it on like you're getting your blood pressure read. Of course it's smaller than that...a little larger than those i-pod armbands. As for correctness, I can't verify that it is better than a footpod (since I've never run with one) but my GPS Pod does give consistent distance readings for the same route over multiple sessions. Compared to Google Earth, my GPS distances are reasonably accurate. Compared to my friend's Garmin, my GPS distances are consistently short by about 0.1-0.2 miles. Not sure which to trust though.....

I agree...this works great!

Suunto GPS POD

Suunto GPS POD

Rating for this product: 4 September 10, 2008

Yep, it works great. Like the previous reviewer, I've had great success with the Suunto GPS Pod. I've had no problems with the GPS dropping out in steep walled canyons or heavily wooded trails. These devices can be a little finicky, but mine picks up satellites within a few seconds even during cloudy weather. It may be a bit pricey, but if you run and bike it will replace the need for a foot pod and a bike pod. The only thing that would make this a 5 star product is if it actually sent coordinates to the watch so that you could map your run/bike/hike. Suunto hasn't added that functionality, but I still love my GPS Pod.

Prologo Touch Choice Gel Saddle Cover

September 8, 2008

Can anyone clarify which ProLogo Choice saddles with which this can be used? The ProLogo Choice Double? ProLogo Touch Choice Pro Ti? ProLogo Choice Cool Team? ProLogo Touch Choice Solid Ti? There seem to be a lot of variations of the words "ProLogo" "Touch" and "Choice" and I want to make sure I can get a saddle with sufficient padding. After all, it may not be a great butt, but it's my butt!
