Super Awesome T-shirt

Backcountry.com Merino Crew Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Backcountry.com Merino Crew Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 14, 2009

I have three of these shirts. They are very versatile and comfortable. They are great for hiking in hot weather or as a baselayer skiing. I agree with other reviewers that the armpits do seem somewhat tight, but I think they do that on purpose to make sure the material is in contact with the sweaty skin on you're armpits, thereby allowing wicking action.

Sizing seems off

The North Face Impulse Vest - Men's

The North Face Impulse Vest - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 November 14, 2009

It's a nice material, but the sizing seems to run big. I normally wear a large, ordered the vest in a medium and it was still quite big on me.

Great peice of gear

Patagonia R1 Full-Zip Fleece Jacket - Men's

Patagonia R1 Full-Zip Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 29, 2009

The waffle style insulation on the inside works exceptionally well at regulating temperature. Plus, the fact that the insulating fibers are on the inside makes it so the material doesn't end up looking like an old bath mat after a while like other fleece material does. The full length zipper is awesome too. I really love my merino insulating layers but this one is probably my favorite even though its polyester.

Nah

SportHill Journey Jacket - Men's

SportHill Journey Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 December 15, 2008

Weird fit - it's kind of short and there are annoying inner fleece cuffs. Disappointing material too - softer and less water resistant than other soft shell materials I've seen. I sent it back.

A good knife to carry in your pocket. The locking mechanism seems very solid. Looks cool too.

Well Conceived Tool

SOG Knives Pocket PowerPlier Multi-Tool

SOG Knives Pocket PowerPlier Multi-Tool

Rating for this product: 5 December 15, 2008

I have the powerLock version of this multi-tool and I ordered one of these babies as a gift for a friend. Now I think I want to trade him. The PowerLock version is much heavier (9.6 oz.), this pocket version is indeed surprisingly light at 5.5 oz. While the powerlock is kinda cool and that version does have some extra tools, the pocket version has all the essentials and the weight makes a difference to me. One thing both versions have going for them is they are made in the good old US of A.
