The North Face Patrol 35 Winter Backpack - 2150cu in

The North Face Patrol 35 Winter Backpack - 2150cu in

Rating for this product: 5 15 hours ago

This pack is very comfortable to carry all the essential gear for a full day out playing in the backcountry. The integrated sleeve inside the main compartment holds your camlebak bladder in place and is easily accessible. A frame carrying of skis works as it should, the skis do not move at all. There is plenty of space for a full days worth of food, a emergency tarp, shovel, probe, ice axe, crampons and skins. It is slightly heavy but makes up for it with its comfort level when fully loaded.

Lightweight and Windproof

Marmot Randonnee Pant - Men's

Marmot Randonnee Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 October 9, 2009

These pants are very good for blocking out the harsh weather and the half bib length is perfect for keeping unwanted snow out. They are as previously stated not very durable so keep that in mind when out in the elements. The full length zipper is very convenient when you are too warm, just zip them off and stow them in the pack, they compress into small spaces very well and are lightweight.

Very warm and waterproof

Marmot Randonnee Glove

Marmot Randonnee Glove

Rating for this product: 5 October 9, 2009

I have been using these gloves for 2 years now, they perform very well in a variety of conditions. They keep my hands comfortable and dry. I have used them in calm sunny weather, they start to become too warm about 35 degrees and are warm enough to rather extreme conditions. Factoring in windchill, I used these gloves with a liner to well below zero, -40 was the temp with windchill and they were adequate but not perfect. They are not necessarily the most dexterous or durable but perform very well. The wrist clinch works very well and is not bulky at all.

Great Glove

Hestra Cloud Nine Glove

Hestra Cloud Nine Glove

Rating for this product: 4 October 9, 2009

These gloves are warm yet still true to hestras roots as being very dexterous. They are pretty breathable, I have used them in a variety of conditions with temperatures ranging from 15-35 or so and they perform very well. Only downside is it seems that getting white leather gloves makes them susceptible to absorbing colors off of other fabrics for some reason. They are slightly discolored, possibly cleaning with leather conditioner will fix.

Great Jacket

Arc'teryx Gamma AR Softshell Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Gamma AR Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 8, 2009

I have taken this jacket everywhere. It performs every time. Whether at school walking outside or on Rainier it is breathable yet still holds its own against the wind. When combined with a good shell it shuts down the cold and wet weather.

Perfect

Arc'teryx Theta AR Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Theta AR Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 8, 2009

This jacket performs as it should. It is windproof and yet breathable. Fits very well and looks great also. Cannot go wrong with the tapered seams and goretex pro material. The hood snugs down on a helmet as well as a beanie and does not move.

Black Diamond Sabretooth Clip Crampons

October 8, 2009

Step into the crampon, pull the bail over the toe, take the strap and put it through the bail and secure it by pulling it through both loops then back through the outermost one. When put on correctly, they will not move at all and feel very secure.

Great Boots!

Scarpa Triolet GTX Mountaineering Boot - Men's

Scarpa Triolet GTX Mountaineering Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 8, 2009

These are great boots for the money. They took some time to break in but perform excellently. Crampons fit like a glove and feel 100% secure, the vibram sole gripes incredibly well on rock and all surfaces.

Great All Round Pack

DAKINE Pro 2 Backpack - 1600cu in

DAKINE Pro 2 Backpack - 1600cu in

Rating for this product: 5 October 2, 2008

Ive used this pack for a season, its a great pack. Plenty of storage for the slackcountry adventurer. The snowboard carrying system works wonderfully and its nice to have the added space that the Heli Pro is lacking. If your thinking about getting the Heli Pro, get the Pro II.
