Coffee freak and light weight gear fanatic. Peak bagging and good times in the back country with my pals. Always a spot of whiskey at days end and a swim if we are lucky.

Petzl e+LITE Emergency Headlamp
September 4, 2008
For minimalist hiking this can not be beat. The weight of the light and a couple spare coin batteries in the first aid kit is less than most light headlamps with out the batteries. I went on a 3 day trip recently. I used the red LED for most purposes at night. It was nice not to blind my friends when I looked at them and it was plenty of light to cook with. The full blast white LED light is more than enough for navigating around at night or checking the trees for bears going after the Asiago Bagels.
