Recommend a set of their slapstraps with these

Eagles Nest Outfitters SingleNest Hammock

Eagles Nest Outfitters SingleNest Hammock

Rating for this product: 5 May 27, 2009

I recommend also purchasing a set of the slapstraps they sell. They are nylon webbing straps with daisy chained loops that allow you to hang your hammock most anywhere very easily. Hang your hammock, toss in your thermal pad, sleeping bag and a pillow and you'll be good to go. I don't travel anywhere without mine anymore. Great product.

I'm quite comfortable sleeping in mine

Eagles Nest Outfitters OneLink Hammock Shelter System

Eagles Nest Outfitters OneLink Hammock Shelter System

Rating for this product: 5 May 27, 2009

My experience is that these hammocks are quite comfortable to sleep in and that I do not...as I thought I might...wake up looking like Kokopelli. The key is to string your hammock up tight using the included "slapstraps" then toss your sleeping pad, bag, and a pillow inside. I find I can toss and turn all night and still be comfortable. The nylon material cuts the wind nicely and having that thermal pad in there really helps as well. I'd highly recommend Eagles Nest Hammocks. Once you get the hang of it (...bad I know)...you'll never go back to sleeping on the ground.

Incredible Value

Lowe Alpine TFX Appalachian 75 Backpack - 4600 cu in

Lowe Alpine TFX Appalachian 75 Backpack - 4600 cu in

Rating for this product: 4 February 25, 2009

I have used this pack. It is a a no frills basic full size backpack....but for the $$ it is a great value. The Lowe Alpine name and quality is there and the adjustable frame makes it usable for a wide range of torso lengths. A 75 litre pack willl carry all you need for any length trip and then some. The Lowe Alpine suspension system is very stable and supports a large load with ease. I highly recommend this pack for it's value and quality too.

Lowe Alpine Snow Attack 20+5 Backpack - 1200cu in

February 2, 2009

You could probably find a way to attach them using the helmet loops or something, but the pack is designed to attach skis to in a diagonal configuration. I don't think the ski tail loop shown in the user pic below is long enough to fit showshoe tails, but it might be. The Lowe Alpine Fall Line 35 might be a better option for showshoes.

Lowe Alpine TFX Appalachian 65 Backpack - 4000 cu in

February 2, 2009

Yes it does. This model, (and all Lowe Alpine large packs) has a zippered shelf inside the pack that you can zip closed, creating a seperate sleeping bag compartment, or open when you just want to have access to the entire pack from the top. The sleeping bag compartment is accessed with the large half-moon zipper you see on the lower front area of the pack.

Lowe Alpine Fall Line 35 Backpack - 2100cu in

January 15, 2009

The Fall Line 35 specs on the Lowe Alpine site say it fits a range of 16 to 21 inch torso lengths. This is achieved by adjusting the length of the shoulder straps, effectively lengthening or shortening the torso lenght of the pack. While your 21 inch torso is at the extreme of the range, this pack should fit you just fine. I've used this particular pack for backcountry skiing and it is a great pack.

Lowe Alpine Attack MX 50+10 Pack - 3000cu in

Rating for this product: 5 December 11, 2008

Great pack for winter mountaineering. Large enough to carry a tent + bag + survival gear. Has a very large front pocket that will hold larger shovels. Solid ski carrying system with a suspension system that will carry the load just fine. If you need to carry alot of gear....this one will do it.

Handles heavy loads comfortably...nice features

Lowe Alpine TFX Wilderness 65+15 Pack

Lowe Alpine TFX Wilderness 65+15 Pack

Rating for this product: 5 July 31, 2008

If you will be carrying a large and heavy load, this pack will work great. I used one on a Yellowstone backpacking trip last year and found it to be an amazingly comfortable carry. Despite the extra weight (a couple bottles of wine and way too many clothes) I packed and didn't need, the Wilderness pack handled the load just fine and had plenty of pockets and lash points in the right places, etc. Used the included rain cover too when it rained. Nice to have one so handy and included with the pack.

SteriPEN technical support...different experience

Hydro Photon SteriPEN Adventurer Handheld Ultraviolet Water Purifier

Hydro Photon SteriPEN Adventurer Handheld Ultraviolet Water Purifier

Rating for this product: 5 July 31, 2008

My experience with this product and their customer service has been totally different. I would suggest to the reviewer who ran into trouble that they try going back to the retailer where they purchased it for support. In my experience most shops or web sites are glad to help and get you in touch with the right persons for assistance. Just my 2-cents.

Cool new product...user friendly

Hydro Photon SteriPEN JourneyLCD Handheld Water Purifier

Hydro Photon SteriPEN JourneyLCD Handheld Water Purifier

Rating for this product: 5 July 31, 2008

Saw a SteriPEN Journey model in action recently. Pretty cool. Does the same thing as the other models but adds alot more user friendly information on the small LCD screen. It counts down the time you have to wait until the water is purified and gives you information on battery life, dosage, etc. A smiley face appears if your water is ready to drink...a frowny face if not. Takes some of the guesswork out. Seems like a worthwhile upgrade to the other models for the extra information given.

Great day-trip skiers backcountry bag

Lowe Alpine Snow Attack 20+5 Backpack - 1200cu in

Lowe Alpine Snow Attack 20+5 Backpack - 1200cu in

Rating for this product: 5 July 31, 2008

This my day trip ski bag of choice. The carrying system for lashing skis onto the pack is foolproof and easy to use. It stows away in a hidden pocket when not needed too. The adjustable shoulder strap feature is great for dialing in the pack size and only needs to be adjusted once to fit your particular body. The pack has plenty of room and organization for my avalanche pro and the bag is built to last. If more room is needed for extra layers on a cold day, the pack expands and almost doubles in size with a hidden zipper. It has a large and lined goggle/phone/glasses pocket and the super strong grab handle on top works great with gloves on. I keep this one loaded and ready to go in my car at all times during the winter. Highly recommended.

Lowe Alpine TFX Summit ND 65+15 Pack - 4000cu in - Women's

July 30, 2008

65 litres = 4000 cu in. The +15 in the pack name is Lowe's way of saying you can extend the packs colar and top pocket to get you an extra 15 litres of packable space. This would give the pack a total capacity of 80 litres = 4900 cu in.

Lowe Alpine TFX Summit ND 65+15 Pack - 4000cu in - Women's

July 30, 2008

Inside the pack there is a divider that can be zipped in or out to create either a seperate sleeping bag compartment, that some people like to have, or just one big bag, which others prefer. Front access is available through the sleeping bag zipper only.

Hydro Photon SteriPEN Classic Handheld Water Purifier

July 30, 2008

This model runs on AA batteries and is shaped to fit inside most standard off the shelf retail water bottles. The other SteriPEN models run on camera style batteries (CR123's).

Nice Pack!

Lowe Alpine AirZone Centro 35+10 Pack - 2100cu in

Lowe Alpine AirZone Centro 35+10 Pack - 2100cu in

Rating for this product: 5 July 15, 2008

I have been using this pack for all-around weekend overnight and day use and find it to be just the right size for these activities. I really like the side zip access panel (it is a top loader too) and the airzone feature really works to keep your back cool when hiking. It is a really full featured pack.
