Great jacket

Outdoor Research Helium II Jacket - Men's

Outdoor Research Helium II Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 11, 2012

There is no reason not to have this jacket with you all the time. It is light, breathable, waterproof and surprisingly durable. I've used this jacket in all four seasons. You can cram it anywhere in your pack or stuff it in it's pocket and clip it to your harness. A great jacket of the weight conscious minimalist!

One tool to do the job

Petzl Sum'Tec Mountaineering Axe

Petzl Sum'Tec Mountaineering Axe

Rating for this product: 5 May 29, 2010

If you are looking for an axe that can be used to slog up snow or take it to the next level on a moderate alpine route - this is your axe! I find this axe very easy to swing and the trigger palmel is just what you need to help you pull over a burgschrund or add a little security on a steep section. The pick is super durable and placements are easy in neve or ice alike. There is just enough curve to make this axe useful in technical terrain and general mountaineering uses alike.

Great Product

Petzl Meteor III Climbing Helmet

Petzl Meteor III Climbing Helmet

Rating for this product: 5 May 29, 2010

On more than one occasion, after a day of ice climbing when wearing a hat underneath, I have forgotten to take my helmet off and have not realized it until looking in the rear view mirror on the drive home... The only question to ask with a helmet this light and comfortable is: will this thing work? In fact, better than most and I can testify. I got hit with a rock about the size of a softball on the Grandes Jorasses last summer and had I not been wearing this helmet things could have turned out bad. Fortunately this did exactly what it was designed to do. The helmet was dented and cracked pretty badly, but my head was not! In my opinion this is the best helmet on the market and there is no excuse not to have one on your next climbing adventure.

Outdoor Research Gripper Glove - Men's

Lightweight no frills windstopper fleece gloves. A must have for any cold weather activities. I wear these alone all the time while skiing and ice climbing. They also make a great liner for really cold days.

great gloves

Outdoor Research StormTracker Glove - Men's

Outdoor Research StormTracker Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 24, 2009

I'm really into these govles. I've had a couple of pairs now and use them mostly for ice climbing and spring skiing. They are great gloves for leading ice, but on cold days bring a warmer pair for belays. These gloves offer excellent dexterity and are quite durable. Best to put some leather conditioner on the palms as it will help with keeping your hands dry and durability. If you need dexterity you can't go wrong with these gloves

Gotta have this

Outdoor Research Sun Runner Cap

Outdoor Research Sun Runner Cap

Rating for this product: 5 June 25, 2009

Okay, so not the most stylish hat I will agree, but if your hanging out on a glacier or on the ocean this is a must have. The skirt comes off easy if you just want the ball cap, but I keep mine on all the time. The hat keeps me cool at high altitudes on sunny days and I never wear sunscreen on my neck or ears anymore with this item. The best way to pervent too much sun exposure is to cover up. I wash mine in the regular wash with other clothes and have had no problems.

great product

Outdoor Research Aurora Bivy

Outdoor Research Aurora Bivy

Rating for this product: 5 June 25, 2009

If your venturing into bivy terrain don't leave home without this. I've used mine a lot and have had great luck. It is a little heavier than some of the ultra lights on the market, but worth the extra weight. I've used some lighter ones and they can be one use wonders - light, but not at all duragble and they don't breath. This bivy sac breathes really well and will stand up to multiple season of use. Well worth the extra cost. Overall a great product.

Mad Rock Flash Climbing Shoe - Men's- 2009 DO NOT USE

Rating for this product: 5 June 23, 2009

This is a great all around shoe. I've used this shoe both on sport and trad routes and it also a great choice for multipitch climbs. The construction is solid and the rubber is sticky. Beware that the shoe will stretch so size accordingly. For the price this is a hard shoe to beat.

Mad Rock Flash Climbing Shoe - Men's- 2009 DO NOT USE

Rating for this product: 4 July 10, 2008

I've been using these shoes for some time now and I'm very happy with their performance. They work great on sport routes, I've been using them mostly on higher end trad climbs. They are comfortable enough to wear for a multiple pitches and offer the performance I need for harder cracks. This is an awesome shoe and an incredible value. They stretch a little so size accordingly.
