Osprey Packs Talon 33 Backpack - 1900-2000cu in

Rating for this product: 5 November 15, 2009

When it was time for a new day pack, I did a bunch of research, tried on a bunch of packs and was rewarded with the Talon. Low weight, low profile, smart features. The padding looks thin but the foam does a fantastic job. I have done about 6+ hour day hikes with this pack (sometimes in just a tank top) and had no problems (even though I like to overpack). With my old pack, my back would hurt after a while. The hydration compatibility in this pack is great coz the water bladder exchange is nice and fast (the hose doesn't have to be squeezed through a tiny hole...). The hip belt is effective but its profile is nice and low so it is not in the way when it's not used. I am 5`6 with avg torso and have the S/M (it might take some time to fit the suspension system right but it is worth it).
This pack is all I was looking for. Highly recommended.

Very nice

Icebreaker Nature Sweetheart Top - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Icebreaker Nature Sweetheart Top - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 November 15, 2009

Very nice light wool shirt for layering or wearing by itself. I am 5'6 and the Medium fits well, a little tighter than my heavier icebreakers (also Med). Performs well on hikes but I use it for any layering occasion as well. As usual with icebreaker, good quality and no stinkiness.

Live Simply

Patagonia Live Simply Whale T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Women's

Patagonia Live Simply Whale T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 March 17, 2009

I bought this shirt because of the print. I love whales and I think Live Simply is a good statement. The shirt and print are good quality and seem like they'll last. The shirt has not quite a girly shirt cut which is a bummer coz it is not as flattering as it could be. I got a medium and usually wear medium, so sizing is fine. I just wish it was cut with a more pronounced waist.

Addition to my first review for the Duway skirt

Patagonia Duway Skirt - Women's

Patagonia Duway Skirt - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 February 24, 2009

So I finally got around to getting the Duway altered b/c it fit too losely around the waist (I got a size 8 and I usually wear size 8 in skirts). The taylor said that it was cut sorta straight, instead of forming an A-shape. After being tightened 2 inches at the waist it finally fit like it was supposed to.
Might have been a manufacturing error in mine...who knows.
If this is a regular case with this item then it benefits those with little waist to hip ratio.
For those of you with a bigger waist to hip ratio, like me, get on the good side of friends/relatives that know how to use a sewing machine ;-)
Still a nice item...one star removed for the fitting issues.

weird fit

Patagonia Active Mesh Bra - Women's

Patagonia Active Mesh Bra - Women's

Rating for this product: 2 January 27, 2009

I have been eyeing this bra for a while b/c it seemed exactly what I was looking for. A "bustier" style bra that would work under a racerback shirt with thin straps...it would if it fit. I am a 34A and usually wear a small in sports bras. When I first got my hands on this bra the material felt a lot heavier than expected (not a neg yet) but I couldn't even fit in the Small. The medium was ok around me but it came up too high under my arms and cut in the skin which was very uncomfortable. I haven't tried on a Large but that might just end up being too wide. I guess this one is not for me.

Simple Toetally Winter Boot - Women's

January 21, 2009

They are NOT warm boots at all. It is just canvas material without any insulation. They are really cute but the only winter they might be suitable for is SoCal Winter.Should be called Spring OR mild autumn boots ;-)

A quality rain jacket

Patagonia Rain Shadow Jacket - Women's

Patagonia Rain Shadow Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 October 17, 2008

I got the daffodil colored rain shadow on a sac deal and wasn't so sure about the color but when I got it that was all unnecessary. It's a pale yellow and I really like it. The jacket fits true to size; I am 5'6 and got a Medium. For a rain Jacket, I find the fit pretty flattering...with still enough room for layering. The inner mesh pocket is a good feature to have, especially when traveling. I took this jacket on a backpacking trip to south africa and it worked out great. We had a bunch of rainy days at the cape and it kept me dry. The pit zips prevented overheating (they could have a mesh liner but I guess that would make the jacket heavier...). This way it is pretty light and bunches up well in a pack. The taped zippers feel very solid and keep the water out. Really happy with this purchase.

1st choice for flights

Icebreaker SuperFine190 Mako Crewe Top - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Icebreaker SuperFine190 Mako Crewe Top - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 October 17, 2008

Soft and comfy (more so after a few washes). Fits true to icebreaker's size chart. I fly for 10+ hours regularly and usually the shirts I wear get stinky, despite deodorant.. This shirt doesn't do that and leaves me feeling less gross after a long trip. I also wear it to horseback riding (it doesn't even pick up the horse odor like my other riding clothes), around town, moutain biking,... Merino wool definitely convinced me.

TNF Vaporwick T

The North Face Vaporwick Featherlight Crew Shirt - Short Sleeve - Women's

The North Face Vaporwick Featherlight Crew Shirt - Short Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 October 17, 2008

Yes, the material is rather thin BUT that makes the shirts really light, they pack much better than a cotton T ever would and they dry really fast. I took two of the shirts on a 2 week backpacking trip and I liked their performance: when I rinsed them out at night, they were dry in the a.m., very comfy to wear. I am 5'6 with a 34 bust (small cup) and the Med fits me well (not body tight). The shirts have a good length and due to two additional seems in the front they provide a contoured fit. They do pick up odor after a while (which other non-treated material that is not merino doesn't?!) but as I said, they dry fast, so washing them even when on the go is no problem.

150 boy short

Icebreaker BodyFit150 Boy Short - Women's

Icebreaker BodyFit150 Boy Short - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 October 8, 2008

I took these on a backpacking trip to South Africa and I couldn't have asked for more functional undies. They kept my behind warm when it was rainy and windy at the cape, kept me cool during long drives and hikes at Kruger Park. After washing them, they dried faster than microfiber undies (I also had some ExOfficios with me). I like the high waistband coz most of my hiking pants are high in the waist as well,so that works out fine. They do look pretty big when compared to other undies though...my travel mates would give me crap when I hung em up. I love these "granny panties" though and think that they look good when worn...most importantly they perform great.

Patagonia Rain Shadow Jacket - Women's

September 13, 2008

Nah...I am 5'6 and 140lb...also usually wear 8-10. I got the RAIN SHADOW in a Medium and it fits really well. Sleeves are on the long side (which I really like). I am sure, you'll be fine with your usual size.

Nice.

Patagonia Duway Skirt - Women's

Patagonia Duway Skirt - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 September 8, 2008

Really like this skort. I am more of a pear shaped kinda gal and this skort fits pretty well. I am normally a size 8-10 and got this skort in an 8. It fits a lil loose around the waist, so I might get it altered. Other than that, the fabric feels really nice. The color is nice and subtle (I got the MOREL; in the picture it looked flashier than it really is). The short inside could be a lil tighter and maybe stretchy. The zippers are a good addition which makes biking a lot easier. I think this garment will be a great allrounder for work, casual and travel.

Cross cami- cute and functional

Icebreaker SuperFine190 Flower Pods Cross Cami - Women's

Icebreaker SuperFine190 Flower Pods Cross Cami - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 September 8, 2008

This is my first icebreaker and so far I am really happy with it. The fabric is really soft and a lot less wool-like than I had expected. I am 5'6 and the Medium fits great. I wear this top around town, to work (I ride my bike there, so it already beat cotton) and I am sure it will be great for travel, outdoorsiness and the occasional gym visit as well. It washed well in warm water, without shrinking(the tag said that it might shrink up to 5%).
I'm gonna take it to Africa in two weeks and shall report back how it did there.

Ex Officio Give-N-Go Boy Cut Brief - Women's

Ex Officio Give-N-Go Boy Cut Brief - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 September 8, 2008

I usually don't like boy briefs coz they tend to ride up on me...I gave the ex officios a shot and I am more than happy I did.
They are featherlight, very comfortable and don't ride up. The best part is that they dry super quickly, which makes them a perfect backpacking/camping/hiking/traveling item. Since the fabric is so thin, keep em away from velcro!! I'm a size 8 and Medium fit perfectly.
