Nice

Polar RS200 Heart Rate Monitor

Polar RS200 Heart Rate Monitor

Rating for this product: 4 May 4, 2009

This is a good monitor - I use it when biking and running on the treadmill. I use the basic funtions only, haven't connected it to the computer.
The watch is water resistant and so is the transmitter. However, if you want to swim in it, it's better to wear a vest or something similar because otherwise water will run between your chest and the belt and it will stop working.

These feel really nice, good grip, water proof. My wife is very happy with them especially that she wears size 5 and those are really hard to find in the store, luckily we have backcountry.com

Rating for this product: 5 May 4, 2009

Really good stuff. These are light, good grip, feels nice and of course water proof. I used them when biking and it's raining (although not a biking shoe, they perform really well for an amateur like myself)

The North Face Hedgehog GTX XCR Hiking Shoe - Men's

May 4, 2009

They are true to size, however the general recommendation when hiking is to wear a half size bigger. Otherwise, if you're descending and wearing a thicker sock, you risk an injury to the toes

Really cool

The North Face VaporWick Ruckus T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

The North Face VaporWick Ruckus T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 4, 2009

Nice shirt, it's very good as a base layer or if you run at the gym. It features the vaporwhick fabric which dries very fast. This fabric does not feel slippery like Nike's dry-fit, it has a more natural feel.

Kelty FC 3.0 Kid Carrier - 1100cu in

Kelty FC 3.0 Kid Carrier - 1100cu in

Rating for this product: 5 May 4, 2009

This is a very nice back pack, designed for the carrying kids :). It is very easy to put on and the baby feels very safe in it. It has plenty of storage for diapers, wipes and water as well as a detachable light backpack for extra clothes or keys/wallet etc. When we're on the trail I carry the kid and my wife carries the light pack. It also features a small mirror that is chained to the pack and you can check on the kid. However, we managed to break the chain and now I keep it in the small belt pocket.

Best middle layer

The North Face Apex Bionic Jacket - Men's

The North Face Apex Bionic Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 4, 2009

This is an excellent middle layer to wear in a Pacific Northwest weather as an everyday jacket. It's warm (but not like a Denali), water repellant and some wind resistance, but this is not a Gore-Tex, you are expected to have another outer layer as well.

I've had it for over a year and it's still in great shape. On chilli days I take it over a base layer and under a gore-tex outer shell and I can sustain freezing temperatures on my bike.

Polar RS200 Heart Rate Monitor

May 4, 2009

Thanks James. Upon closer look I noticed that on the transmitter is states that you can use it up to 30m. However, it's really hard to use it in the water because as you swim, water will run between the belt and your body and the transmitter will lose contact. Maybe if I'm weartin a vest over.

Polar RS200 Heart Rate Monitor

January 29, 2009

Does this work in the pool? I know that the watch is water resistent, but I wonder if the transmiter is also safe if worn when swimming.
