Columbia Wildcard II Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 June 8, 2009

eg. en16752 etc

soft shells are NOT water proof
its just a pertex coating

if your in 20mins of hard down pours in a soft shell then of course your going to get wet

there are plenty of cheaper waterproofs out there
so id return this and get a waterproof
if your mostly goin to be in rainy conditions

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Jacket - Men's

May 29, 2009

its primarily a warm layer jacket
and though when you first buy it it may shed slight drizzle due to a nikwax type spray coating , it will soon rub / wash out . And if you've ever got anything down wet you'll know what its like to dry. It will also become less effective once dry

Danner Expedition GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Danner Expedition GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 4, 2009

I bought these last summer when i was over at my dads ( LA ) for a hike up near bishop. Unfortunately i got the boots the day before the trip so didnt really have much time to break them in. However the boots still felt comfortable and i came away from the 3 day 2 night trip blisterless and happy :). I bought the boots to replace some bomber zamberland leather boots and i can happily say theyv'e stood up to everything I've put them through over here in the UK . Terential Downpours of the lakes , super heavy snow this winter and various mountain hikes in scotland and wales. Bottom line : Great boots , warm ! , waterproof , sturdy and comfy all for a Great Price :)

Edelweiss Ally Single Climbing Rope - 10.3mm

January 16, 2009

Rock climbing ropes don't break (with a few weird exceptions). All climbing ropes that are UIAA certified are safe to climb with. In shopping for a rope you need to consider impact force (this rope is 9kN which is about average), elongation, weight, diameter (roughly correlates with longevity and durability), features (like middle marks, bipattern coloration, etc), and handling. Don't worry about "how much it will hold".In terms of holding falls the things to rely on are . 1 . The competence of your belayer . 2. the quality of your anchor placement (both when leading and top ropeing ) and 3 . the distance between your anchors ( when leading )
