Used these mountaineering in the cascades in the summer. Kept me dry even while hanging in a crevasse. They vent pretty well too if it gets too warm. Just be careful, they're tough but not invincible. I made a rookie mistake and caught one of my legs with a crampon and ripped a small hole in them. If you got the money and want a top notch product I'd recommend them.

I wish I could give this pack positive reviews like everyone else. However, this pack has simply not held up over time. I really like the suspension system, it holds gear comfortably but the plastic connectors that connect the hip belt to pack have both snapped making the pack useless. I have had a lot of little problems as well. The pull tabs for the zippers will pull off if you yank on them too hard. The chest straps are simply clipped to the shoulder straps instead of sewn on and can fall off(one of mine did on the airplane on a trip out west) Also the water bottle pocket is made of a soft stretchy fabric that can rip if you have something hard attacked to the side of your pack like an ice picket. Now, granted these problems probably won't affect everyone, this pack is probably perfect for casual use. However of the last 90 days I have spent thirty in the field including twelve days in the cascades so I put it through a lot of abuse. I would not reccomend it for professional or very heavy use.
