Arc'teryx Squamish Pullover Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Squamish Pullover Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 May 18, 2010

I got this jacket for cycling/mountain biking/running on cooler days. So far so good. It is a little lighter than I expected but that is not necssarily a bad thing. I took it out mountain biking the other day in 50ish degree weather with just a 100 weight fleece underneather and it performed well. Kept the wind off and kept the chill away.

I have also worn it around town it it has done a good job. I havent tested how much water it sheds but it is a windbreaker not a rain coat.

So a good piece and not a bad price

Great After

Burton AK Tech Glove - Men's

Burton AK Tech Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 April 7, 2010

I got these for those warmer wetter days. I gave em the standard test for waterproofing I give all my gear. 20 Seconds under a running faucet. These failed miserably. They started absorbing water after about 5 seconds. However, I wasnt ready to give up on em yet. So I got my Nikwax glove treatment stuff, gave em a good coat as directed, let it dry and the next day did the test again. They passed, no water absorbed. Having tested in the most water they will ever see, they were ready for the field.

So these gloves are great now. They only got 3 stars because the waterproofing they came with was not so great. But now that that was fixed, they are comfortable, breath well, and look awesome. I highly recommend these but make sure to buy the Nikwax to treat them so they stay waterproof.

Oakley Splice Goggle

How easy is it to change the lens out. Is it something you can do quickly on the hill if conditions change? Or is it more involved?

Overpriced and Only OK

Arc'teryx Hyllus Fleece Hooded Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Hyllus Fleece Hooded Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 March 16, 2010

This jacket is way too expensive. i got it on a pro deal and paid way below wholesale, otherwise it is not worth the money.

I will start with the bad and end with the good. Two bad things. The price and the overall quality. I have a bunch of arcteryx stuff and this one is just okay, as opposed to being great like some of my other garments made by them.
The fabric feels light and not all that durable. for example, I was walking through a doorway and my sleeve got snagged on the door frame. The jacket ripped through all layers of the coat. I have had similar things happen in other jackets with no rips or tears at all. And I am hard on my stuff and wear it in much worse places than a doorway. (For example a bike crash in my mountain hardware fleece, no tears or evidence of any damage.)

Noe for the good. Unbelievably comfortable and warm. i love wearing this thing and that is why I am so bitter about the tear. i couldnt imagine if I had paid 350 for it and then got a tear in a simple doorway. but this jacket is warm and amazing to wear.

i got an XL and I am 6'1" 45" chest 36" waist. it fits well. Usually things bind up in my shoulders and I dont have this problem at all in this jacket. it has a little stretch to it which is nice. And the lofted fleece interior is great. The only reason this jacket got a three is because it tore so easily.

so if you got an extra 350, buy it but be careful not to snag it cause it will tear.

Great and Breathable

Patagonia Ascensionist Softshell Jacket - Men's

Patagonia Ascensionist Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 20, 2010

First my measurements. 45inch chest, 34 inch arm, 17inch neck, 36 inch waist. The XL fit me perfectly, not to snug not too baggy. My lady even said that it was good looking enough to wear around town.

I bought this jacket in the orange color. i got it for two reasons. one for running in the cold weather and two, for snowboarding.

I live in Chicago and during the winter i run outside, as long as it is above 0. I have taken this jacket out in the cold, 20's (not including wind chill) and have loved it. It stops the wind and keeps out the wet weather. Tonight there was freezing rain that were no chalenge.

The breathability is great on this jacket, I have yet to overheat. (even in slightly warmer weather 40s)

All around it is a great jacket for me needs, the fit is good, it serves its purpose and it doesnt bind up on me when wearing for a run or around town.

Amazing

Icebreaker BodyFit 260 Tech Top - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Icebreaker BodyFit 260 Tech Top - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 28, 2009

I went for a walk on the beach the other day and was wearing this top. It was about 58 degrees and mind you the ocean was about 60. I was collecting shells for my lady and I saw a good one out in the water, so I stuck my arm in sleeve down and all, all the way up to my elbow. The shirt was soaking wet yet it remained warm. I couldnt even tell it was wet. I felt warm and dry, as warm and dry as the arm that was actually dry. So a great shirt it keeps you warm when wet or dry, it doesnt itch.
As far as sizing. I have two of em. I am 6'1" with a 45" chest (actual measurement). I have an XL to use as a base layer, it fits well, I can put a thin shirt underneather if needed and I have a XXL to wear as a mid type layer (I can fit a regular tshirt underneathe.

Great Stuff all around

Icebreaker Icebreaker GT220 Quantum Hooded Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 12, 2009

I got this for city cycling in Chicago, hiking, snowboarding, and just general wear. It is awesome. The finishing on the inside is good and seems in line with all my Ice breaker stuff. The red panels are almost waffle like but not thin. This is going to work great.

Burton AK 2L Jussi Anorak Jacket - Men's

Burton AK 2L Jussi Anorak Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 13, 2009

Just got this jacket in the Green color. I am really excited to test it out. First the sizing. I am 6'1" 200 lbs with 46"chest and 36" waist. All my Burton stuff is XL but this jacket a L fit perfectly with enough room to move and not lift up.
THe technical aspects of the jacket are great, the gortex, powder skirt, and wrist closures are nice. The neck/collar sits high but gives enough room to breath so it is not choking you.
All around good jacket.

Burton AK 2L Jussi Anorak Jacket - Men's

February 25, 2009

I have a 44 inch chest and I have Burton Ronin Jacket in XL but I am worried that if I get this one in XL it wont fit. The sizing chart puts me on the border. I got the Burton Beacon soft shell in XL and it was small. I am 6'1" 200 lbs. I want something looser and baggy. Anyone know if this will work?

Good/ Decent glove

DAKINE Frontier Glove

DAKINE Frontier Glove

Rating for this product: 3 February 23, 2009

I took these gloves out in 20 degree wet show/powdery conditions. My hands stayed warm and dry all day. I had no problem with snow getting inside the glove.

The one problem is with the synthetic palm material. When the material is wet it stays wet and then freezes. So the palm of my glove and tips of the fingers were covered in ice for most of the day. But my hands stayed warm and dry despite the ice.

Great

Icebreaker BodyFit 200 Legging w/Fly - Men's

Icebreaker BodyFit 200 Legging w/Fly - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 2, 2009

I have the old version with no fly but these are some of the best base layer I own. I wear them everyday under my suit and around town, because it gets well in to the negative teens with the wind chill here. my legs are never cold. These guys move well with my body and unlike some synthetic pairs I have, I never feel these bunching up or pulling.
I have a 36" waist and I sized up to an XL because I like a little room. and they fit great.

Nice Jacket

686 Vitals Saville Technical Softshell Jacket - Men's

686 Vitals Saville Technical Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 26, 2009

I just got this jacket and have not been able to take it out for a test but it looks and feels all around good. The seams are not taped but look sturdy. The material is similar to other softshells I have and the fit is good and comfortable. The sizing was a little off. On the sizing chart I fit in to an XL but I got an L and it fits perfectly. No bunching or pulling. I also got a Burton Beacon and I prefer the 686. The quality of the items is identical (seams and fabric) but the 686 is a lot more comfortable. THe Burton Beacon in XL is way too small. I have a 44 inch chest and am 6'1"
Overall I cant wait for spring to take this jacket out. If you can get it at a good price do it.
