Backcountry Access Stash BC Rider Backpack - 2135cu in

October 27, 2009

I've had this pack for 2 whole seasons now and it has yet to develop any wear issues. I would buy this pack again...very easy to access all my avy equipment even when fully loaded. Although this is the "Rider" version of the pack and I only ski...I chose it because the tacky straps on the back used to strap a board to the pack make for a great strap to stow my helmet on the skin up. Taken 2-11-09 on Allison Clay, Kachina Peaks Wilderness, AZ.

I need plastic

Backcountry Access Aluminum Crystal Card

Backcountry Access Aluminum Crystal Card

Rating for this product: 4 October 12, 2009

There is nothing wrong with this card....but since I deal with warmer temps in general and sunny skies for the most part....I find that the metal card tends to melt the grains rather fast. I've noticed similar plastic cards not having the same problem. Again...not a knock on the card...probably just something to consider if you ski in the Southwest like I do.

Works better than rope

G3 Rutschblock Cord

G3 Rutschblock Cord

Rating for this product: 4 October 12, 2009

Since I ski in the Southwest, we get a lot of wind/sun crusts and the knotted rope just failed when sawing through these layers....This thing put an end to that. I've seen reviews knocking the cord because of damage to poles...and I can see that this would be the case if you are using carbon fiber poles in conjunction with this cord to carve out a block....but since I use aluminum poles...no problem. The only complaint I have is that it tangles easily given it's permanent storage inside the provided sack....the sack forces you to coil the cord rather tightly and it can be a pain to undo any tangles. I would suggest storing it in bigger loops somewhere inside your pack rather than the sack it comes with...this will make it easier to handle.
