Ally,
Thank you for your interest in the POV.1.
The firmware update for the larger cads does work. I have used it on 2 POV.1 units myself, and everyone here at V.I.O. has used the update as well. If you would like to receive the update please go to: http://www.vio-pov.com/firmware_update

Hello,
The POV.1 has a fixed lens and image sensor, thus it does not have a changing zoom. Currently the POV.1 is sold with a 110 degree field of view.

Answer to: "Can you download footage to a Mac and edit it in iMovie?"
V.I.O. POV.1 Camera Package
October 28, 2008
Hello,
The video form the POV.1 can be downloaded to iMovie and edited, but it will not support the sound half of the file. If you wish to have sound to edit as well I recommend converting the file to a .MOV file or converting the sound to a different codec (PCM works great).

V.I.O. POV.1 Camera Package
October 26, 2008
Hello,
The POV.1 has been used for hunting, and it is fairly easy to mount the POV.1 camera head on most hunting rifles and shotguns using either the Double Hook and Loop mount or the C-Clamp mount (depending if you have a rail system or not).
The recoil should not affect the POV.1, and since there have been POV.1 units in Irq for over a year, I am sure any recoil issues would have happened by now.
As for the beep on the unit, all you have to do is go to the settings menu and turn the speaker down to 0. That will silence the unit completely.
If you have any other questions please feel free to call or e-mail us at anytime.
Thank you,
Ian M

We are in the final stages of testing out some new firmware that will allow the POV.1 to use both the 4GB and 8 GB SDHC cards. This should be available soon.
We have been informed of a workaround that will allow the POV.1 to use 4GB SDHC cards, but they have not been tested or approved. The “4GB work around” which is mentioned in our FAQ calls for the 4 GB SD card to be formatted using the FAT16 file system and 64KB cluster sizes. While this will allow the POV.1 to use 4GB cards, V.I.O. does not currently support this workaround. Also note that the process for doing this (as far as we know. I am sure there are other ways to do it) is for advanced users, and can only be done with our any extra software on a Windows computer. (Sorry Mac users)

Hello,
Thank you for using the POV.1.
Your Serial number indicates you have a Wide Angle Camera Head. Any camera head that begins with a 1V is a Wide Angle version, while a 1M is a Classic version. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us at customer.care@vio-inc.com

The POV.1 is rated for a depth of 1 meter for 30 minutes. We recommend that when you use it in a salt water environment that you protect the recording unit, and that you cover the microphone on the AV cable, usually with something like water proof tape or silicone glue. The best cover for the recorder that I have seen so far is the Big Wave pouch for the recorder. The link for the pouch is: http://www.launchhelmetcams.com/accessories/big-wave-pov1-ba

Adam, Thank you for your interest in the POV.1. The POV.1 model for sale is a Wide Angle camera. The reason for this is that the Wide Angle camera head is now standard with all new POV.1 units. If you have any questions regarding the Wide Angle camera heads please feel free to call or e-mail us at any time. Thank you, Ian Customer Care Team V.I.O. 888.579.2267 customer.care@vio-inc.com

Sabrina, The unit can record under water to a depth of 1m, which is about 3.5ft or so. While this limit is for the whole POV.1 unit, the camera head itself cam go deeper and should not have a problem with the depths you mentioned. Also I would recommend using a dry bag if you plan to have the recorder in the water for an extended period of time. Ian Customer Care Team V.I.O. Inc. Customer.Care@vio-inc.com 888.579.2267

Zea,
The unit does record audio from a mono mic placed in the cable between the camera head and the recording unit. Also there is an external microphone input near the SD card slot so that you can use your own microphone if you wish.
If you have any questions please feel free to call us at 888.579.2267 or e-mail us at Customer.Care@vio-inc.com.

The .AVI video files are compatible (Just like in Windows you will need a codec) on the Mac. This means you can view and edit the videos on the Mac. The POV.1 Content Manager software is currently unavailable on the Mac, but it is not required to view the videos.

The setup is relatively small. The recording unit is 40x60x167mm and weight of 328g. To compare it to something in real life it is about the size of a standard 20oz pop bottle.
