Worth every penny...

Petzl Meteor III Climbing Helmet

Rating for this product: 5 August 22, 2010

1. Light - You hardly notice it's on...
2. Dry - Doesn't wick moisture into your hat when the ice starts dripping... I've found other 'webbing suspended' helmets to be particularly bad about this. It also fits nicely under taller hoods.
3. Safe - I'm pretty sure the polystyrene setup is more bombproof than others. The top is extra thick too...

Helmets are one of those things that you hope to never really 'test', but for the comfort provided this is worth every penny.

Arc'teryx M280 Mixed Climbing Harness

August 22, 2010

Only 2 gear loops?! Can anyone comment on these getting crowded for mixed ascents with trad pro placements?

Black Diamond Aura Harness -2010

August 16, 2010

No... but they do have a little elasticized strap that takes up some looseness should you have space to spare. That said, I've found most of BD's harnesses to have really tight leg loops and I have skinny to average legs.

Marmot Ion Windshirt - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 2, 2009

Sweet. I love this thing, although mine is without hood... Great for the cool morning trails in Ithaca, NY. It's surprisingly quiet too, which I value in running apparel. Words.

GoLite Ridge Runner Short - Men's

September 2, 2009

Does anyone have a sense of how long the leg is on a Men's small? IE does it break halfway up your thigh, or just above the knee? Also, how snug does the leg fit?

Reason I'm being so finicky is I bought a pair of Brooks shorts that I had to return b/c they looked like a skirt - too long and too, um, billowy... You know, like a puffy shirt...

Montrail Hurricane Ridge XCR Trail Running Shoe - Men's

January 11, 2009

Never worn Montrails, but people seem to think these fit narrow feet well, and that sounds just about right to me... Width aside, do they run true to size?
