Backcountry.com Merino Zip Tee - Long-Sleeve - Women's

October 27, 2009

I have the non-zip version of this shirt. I have washed it in pretty much every water temp and thrown it in the dryer, I haven't noticed any shrinkage, thankfully.
I think that you might be out of luck.

The North Face Pumori Fleece Jacket - Women's

October 27, 2009

I find North Face jackets fit larger. I am 5'8" and 155 pounds, I wear a medium in their jackets, you would probably find a medium to be bulky in the midsection. I would suggest you get a small in The North Face outerwear, unless you are planning for some serious layers to fit underneath.

The North Face Vindicator Mid GTX Hiking Boot - Women's

August 4, 2009

Yes and no. It claims that is uses Gore-Tex but from looking at the shoe, it looks like only the sole and lower part of the boot would be waterproof. Definitely not waterproof with the mesh panels along the side.

Backcountry.com Merino Crew Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Women's

Backcountry.com Merino Crew Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 June 18, 2009

So I am a huuuuge fan of merino, which might make me a bit partial but I really like this shirt. I actually have 2, one large and one medium. I usually find backcountry.com brand to run a little small but because this shirt is super lightweight it is super stretchy, the large is perfect for me to layer something under it (So it is not exposing my bra for the world to see) and the medium is perfect for a base layer. I am 5'9" 155lbs. Love the bright colours, I have the aqua and tomato, and get lots of compliments on them.
The only problem is that it is fairly see-through so beware (Just watch the bra colour), really not a big enough issue for me to not love it.
Watch for it on steepandcheap!

Icebreaker SuperFine140 Voyage Tank - Women's

May 8, 2009

Icebreaker definitely has different fits depending on the style. I wear a large in the more technical gear but I have this in a medium and it fits great. I'm a 36DD and don't have any constrictive problems with the medium (which the sizing chart gives 37 inches). If you are stuck between the two sizes I would order down.

Patagonia R1 Flash Pullover - Women's

Patagonia R1 Flash Pullover - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 May 7, 2009

I got this top for my sister for our week of trekking in Patagonia since she tends to always be cold. She wore it almost everyday and absolutely raved about how it actually kept her warm on the cool drizzly days. It is great as a next to skin layer or even with a light-weight top under (If you buy your regular size that will probably be all that will fit comfortably) the only issue is adding anymore layers over it, pretty much just a shell or windshirt would work. Still a great top, so thankful that I didn't have to spend the week listening to her gripe about the cold!

Who loves Short-shorts? This girl does.

Patagonia Negril Short - Women's

Patagonia Negril Short - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 May 7, 2009

I love these shorts. I looked forever for a pair of shorts that had a short inseam (2 1/2-3 inches)but were still flattering. Usually the problem was tight in the leg and gaping at the waist, far from ideal, but these fit me absolutely perfectly! The added bonus is that these are far hardier than the standard without sacrificing style and the touch of spandex makes them super comfortable. Get them!

KUHL Selekt Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 April 1, 2009

This pants a super stretchy and fit great. I got them in espresso and really like the colour. The only drawback for me is that the inseam is too short for me. I am 5'9" and these would be great if there was a flood rolling in. . . not likely here in CO so back they go.

Tighty-tights

CW-X 3/4 Length Stabilyx Tight - Women's

CW-X 3/4 Length Stabilyx Tight - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 March 31, 2009

Woot! These are great! Once you get yourself in them (which can be a bit of struggle till you get a system sorted out)everything stay puts. I felt very secure in them and noticed a difference right away. I wear them for trail running and skiing. The 3/4 length is perfect since they stop just short of the top of my boot. There is a definite decrease in muscle fatigue, I ski/run longer/faster when I'm wearing these bad boys. There is an inside key pocket at the waist, but with how tight these are not sure how comfy a key would be sitting there.

Scott Wanda Hooded Sweatshirt - Full-Zip - Women's

Scott Wanda Hooded Sweatshirt - Full-Zip - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 March 31, 2009

I really like this zip-up and it looks rad. I would probably like it a lot more if it has a brushed fleece lining like other hoodies, this one has a waffle-print which is probably not as warm and definitely not as soft/comfy. Also found that it runs a bit big, I would suggest ordering a size down.

SportHill Infuzion Splice Hooded Top - Women's

SportHill Infuzion Splice Hooded Top - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 March 13, 2009

I love this top, the brushed fleecy interior feels great and is super warm. I love running in this top when the temperature drops, especially with the fold over cuffs. The front zipper provides ventilation once you've warmed up. The material seems to be pilling a bit, looks like is got in a fight with a bit of Velcro in areas that rub. Really my only complaint is I wish that it had a key pocket on it.

Coal UK Beanie - Women's

Coal UK Beanie - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 February 27, 2009

I got this toque (That's right, it's a toque) in cream and so happy with it. First it is super warm, with fleece lining along the band and the high gauge wool. Second it is so cute, I love wearing it all the time, perfect fit with the iconic pompom. Love it, but be warned it is surprisingly toasty, probably ideal for the chilliest days.

Icebreaker Nature Sweetheart Top - Long-Sleeve - Women's

February 26, 2009

I don't have this actual shirt but I swear by Icebreaker in general. This is pretty lightweight for a baselayer (i.e. for colder temp you will want to look for a heavier weight, think more like 260 weight). I find that the merino wool does a better job of regulating my temperature and wicking moisture than silk (plus it doesn't get nearly as smelly), and at this weight it feels like cotton, super thin and stylish to boot. But that's just my opinion. . .

Burton Bliss Reversible Down Jacket - Women's

February 26, 2009

I would go with a medium, but it all depends on the amount of layering you plan of doing. The medium still leaves plenty of room for some midweight layers but if you are looking for enough space for a big wool sweater than go up a size. Burton generally designs its jackets on the baggier side.

KEEN Ridgeline Trail Running Shoe - Women's

The North Face Windwall 1 Fleece Jacket - Women's

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Parka - Women's

February 12, 2009

This jacket should do the job. Although it will definitely require some serious layering if the weather turns nasty (ie. Gusts that will blow you right off the glacier). The only alternatives here would be any of the "Canada Goose" brand parkas which are filled with goose down. The "Expedition" is my favourite, I swore by it when I was living in northern Canada. Hope that helps!

Sherpa Adventure Gear Dolga II Mock Neck Top - Women's

Sherpa Adventure Gear Dolga II Mock Neck Top - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 February 11, 2009

This is a great top. I love the warm and adore the side zipper looks super cute. I found this to fit true to size, I usually struggle between medium and large, I got it in a large and it isn't too big but plenty of room for layers under it. I wear it as outerwear on the brisk days. The only thing is I find the material to be on the scratchy side, maybe after a few washes that will tone down. Other than that I really really really like it.

Mountain Hardwear Tonga Knit Skirt - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 January 14, 2009

I have this skirt in large in the blue and I love it. Fits true to size. The hint of stretch makes it super comfortable as does the wide waistband. This skirt transitions easily from sitting in a crowded bus in South America to sitting in the office in Colorado. Used to despise wearing skirts but this one changed my mind!

Columbia Silver Ridge III Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 January 14, 2009

This shirt is very practical and a great design, just not sure about the sizes. I am usually between a medium and large depending on the roominess in the chest area. I ordered this in a large and it was gigantic! I could probably fit two of me in it. Definitely order a size down. . . unless mine was just improperly labeled.

Salomon Bliss Winter Boot - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 January 7, 2009

I love these boots in theory but was less than impressed when I got them. I got the brown/red and the lower is very dark brown. It looked more like I was wearing rubber boots than these cute boots I was envisioning. The knit upper was a great pattern but too slouchy to wear under jeans and looked pretty silly over my skinniest pants. I exchanged them for the Salomon Ivy Felt Boot which I absolutely love.

I absolutely love love love these trail runners. They kill it in any terrain I've put them up to and carried me through snow, ice, rock, mud, you name it (and usually all in one run). Super sturdy and great grip plus super comfy, no break-in required. The support they provide gave me a big boost in confidence on the more technical trails. I would definitely recommend these!

If I was a castaway on a deserted island and could only bring a single pair of glasses these would be them. Super versatile, great for anything active but still stylish enough to fit in around town. The interlock system makes changing lenses a breeze and the polarized feature is always nice. I wear mine (the wood tort frame) trail running and they stay put even when I work up a sweat. Just another fantastic pair of glasses from Smith.
