Line Prophet 100 Ski

October 25, 2009

I'm a smidge under 5'11 and a bit under 165. Skied on the 186cm 100' for a season before the public knew they existed. The 100 will be more useable in varied conditions with a better more balanced platform when you are off piste. On piste if its a 35/40+ degree super hard surface the fronts will shudder through the finish of the turn if you carry alot of speed. Never noticeable any other time and super stable more so than the 90. In the NW we get lots of icy days as well as crud (where the 100 absolutely kills it) and pow pow. The 100 is so fun you'll put that 8000 away imo. It became my go to ski. 3 pairs later I'm burned out on em and trying other skis now. Another ski to consider would be the Movement Source or a slightly more progressive one I just picked up from BC the Lib Tech NAS Freeride Recurve.

Black Diamond Megawatt Ski 08/09 Model

Black Diamond Megawatt Ski 08/09 Model

Rating for this product: 5 February 26, 2009

Conditions windblown 2-3" new over 5-8" previous day on top of 2 week frozen stuff. These will glide through and over softer mank and cut up chunks without deflecting. If you are on em and skiing correctly they will roll from side to side new school style fairly quickly for directional changes. Steep windblown lines on Grubstake were a blast at Crystal today. The earlier fresh lines off Throne ridge were fast runs but these made it feel slower. As things settle in and the snow is riddled with avy debris or frozen sluff they can deflect but most skis would. There is no metal in these so a bit of floppiness can be experienced on skied out groomers even on edge. Some free pinner dude wrote these are heavy. Not so. Hiked and skate skied into the Southback of Crystal today. I'm old and out of shape and these were not heavier than a lot of fats I've skied. These Watts will do some fun things but don't expect too much. If you can fly on a 100/110mm waist you will probably love these but they are not exponentially better. I had a blast today on these don't get me wrong. You can make em carve on smooth groomers its just a bit weird and commands some concentration. These are a special desert ski. Dreamy slashes and turns through fresh snow on steep terrain. You'll want a second helping with the Watts.

Rossignol S6 Koopman Alpine Ski

January 4, 2009

Mounted mine at the center mark. They hold well and have good versatility. Boot sole mid hash mark on the middle line works great.

Rossignol S6 Koopman Alpine Ski

Rossignol S6 Koopman Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 5 January 2, 2009

Wanted a daily driver to replace my 186 Line Prophet 100's. Tough task. Had to be as fat and carve well if things got firm. Well the 28th and 29th at Kirkwood things firmed up. Mounted mine at the middle mark with an Axial 140 Ti Pro with a bit of lift. Was worried about stability but no worries. On edge they haul ass and hold amazingly well way outside. You will get some skip on super steep groom if you are pushin it because of the width. Lots of fun on roller coaster terrain as you can throw these from side to side and rail turns. Weird talkin about groomers I know. These are glassy but damp. Will kick some because of no metal so you just adjust your technique when bumpy terrain comes. A Katana or Prophet have metal in them so they will tend to stay down and punch comparitively is my guess since I have skied em both in chop and pow. Verdict still out on crud and pow with these. Should be fun.

Volkl The Grizzly Alpine Ski w/ Motion iPT Wide Ride 14.0 Binding

Volkl The Grizzly Alpine Ski w/ Motion iPT Wide Ride 14.0 Binding

Rating for this product: 5 December 12, 2008

I'm 5'11 165 and usually ski the longer lengths in most brands. Was at Alta and rented a pair in a 177cm and it was plenty of ski. It was a hardpan day so groomers and junk snow was the scenario. Was able to get these way outside and trust the edge hold to bring these around at a very fast pace. Stability means confidence and this 177 had it in spades. It has a nicer flex than the AC 50 in hand to me. This is a punchy, fun, rowdy new school midfat thats racy. Just what I was looking for on a front side day with some side excursions. The bindings were cool and maybe contributed to the solid edge feel but honestly think this Volkl ski would shave granite with any binding. Amazing hold for its dimensions.

Black Diamond Megawatt Ski 08/09 Model

November 25, 2008

i'd go with the rossi's there way better quality and wont let you. downBryan Bennett: Get the Megawatt's, no camber lets you drive this ski hard in all conditions, and stay forward on them. Rockered tip keeps them up in the pow and makes them real easy to ski in the shorter turns. Nice mid stiff core too. Plus no rocker on the tail, which you will end up loving since your not a switch rider. I don't know what this guys problem is, stop hating man, BD skis are sick.

Arc'teryx Sigma SV Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Sigma SV Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 21, 2007

just back from Whistler where it was 12-16 degrees with blowing dry cold snow. this sucker is windproof unlike other softshells. Smokes the cutsie Gamma MX which I've owned. The Gamma SV is nice for what it is but no match either. The fit is form fitting but loose enough to get another very form fitting soft shell under it plus a powerstretch T-neck layer under that. Perfect for a cold day. At Crystal 25 degrees or so today and puking I wore just a powerstretch t-neck, the Sigma SV, and a 5 year old Sirrus SL superlight gore-tex shell over thr SV. Hood is big and kind of dorkie but throws over quickly if your the helmet type or cinches if stackin a woolie on the noggin. Have owned alot of Arcteryx. Sent alot back too recently! This is a keeper. Nice piece.

186 Base is Black

Line Prophet 100 Alpine Ski

Line Prophet 100 Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 5 November 1, 2007

has a yellow color Line insignia on a black base. Don't know about you but gotta like the black base for repair issues. The Boyz at our beloved B-Country just missed this is all. By the way...just mounted my second pair cuz they're just that good. Two full seasons on my last pair and all my friends wanted my pair when they saw me ski them. The new graphics are awesome. Dollar for Dollar the most Big Mtn Performance for the Buck spent. Have a close friend sponsored by K2 that when asked by the K2 Pres, what his favorite ski of the manufacturers test at Snowbasin was...His response was the Line Prophet 100. Interesting...not that it wasn't already in the works but I guess it didn't hurt as K2 bought Line!

An industry secret is out called the Prophet 100

Line Prophet 100 Alpine Ski

Line Prophet 100 Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 5 November 8, 2006

This ski simply rules it all. Its construction with the metal matrix lay-up over maple is ingenious. The metal top sheet wraps over the core in segments to give you less twist and more bite where you need it. At speed in chop or Super-G'n on silk or windblown they inspire confidence and big grins. Stable and damp but at the same time nimble and quick. Wow, they outclass the Gun Lab 188's I had in a big way. More fun than my Outlaws when it’s deeper. People considering Gotamas should ride these as the Prophet is not as bouncy. The Prophet kills it Period.

Arc'teryx Minuteman Bib - Men's

Arc'teryx Minuteman Bib - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 1, 2006

I own a bunch of Arc’teryx. The Minutemans make it through the absolute worst weather the mountain can throw down keeping you dry. Wear like iron. The Minuteman fit is roomier in the butt and legs than the Theta SK's. This site supplies me with the medium-long lengths which is an extra 1 1/2 to 2 inches so they don't ride high on your boot cuff while yur rippin pow. Nice and dry. Worth every penny and will last years until you get sick of the color and then buy another!

4 Deep Days with a Prophet...

Line Prophet 100 Alpine Ski

Line Prophet 100 Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 5 January 19, 2006

Incredible, romping, kick-ass, versatile Fat that can lay down GS arcs as well as float fast and furious lines down Blackcomb Glacier. Totally stoked how well they smashed over the tops of soft deep mogul fields and devastated deep, steep cut up pow bumps.

Rating for this product: 5 August 29, 2005

If you are like me and are pretty much a minimalist in what you like to carry on your back, just buy this; I bought this for my wife. Other than the color being to girly, (they need this in a men’s color) this model can be used by men who hate carrying anything on their back while they ski. I used it on a summer hike. Went straight up lower and upper Exterminator ski run and its design just works and doesn't flop around. And, it has ingenious little features.

Fischer Big Stix FX 8.6 Alpine Ski

Fischer Big Stix FX 8.6 Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 5 December 12, 2003

A lot like my old AK Rockets in terms of flex. Very round but even a more flexy tail. Own the 190 which is 10cm
shorter than the old AK Rockets. Mounted
these with Marker comp 1400 pistons.
Skied two day old crud with cookies and some smooth crud today as well as high speed groomers that were fairly steep.
They have no metal but the carbon keeps em quiet and stable at a very fast pace.
Not quite the badger bite but no metal and its a cap construction is why. Held decent none the less.
