waist doesn't adjust

Columbia Silver Ridge Short - Little Boys'

These shorts are great in that they are lightweight and dry quickly, but the "elastic" waist has pretty limited range, and it's on the large end. My son is slender, so I ended up having to add some darts to make these fit (the fabric is sewn to the elastic, so it's otherwise hard to take them in--this is for the 5/6 shorts, my son's waist is 20.5"). It'd be a lot nicer to have a drawstring or some adjustable tabs!

great pants for adventures in hot climates

The North Face Horizon Cargo Capri

The North Face Horizon Cargo Capri

Rating for this product: 5 August 6, 2008

I got these for a trip to Egypt--these were the most comfortable pants that I had. Very lightweight, wash easily in a sink, quick to dry, and pack well. TNF website says they are UPF50, and they were totally effective in the hot sunny weather in Egypt. I used the drawstring waist to keep these up a little higher in the waist. I'm really short (<5') so these were more like ankle-length pants on me, but again that was perfect for Egypt. My mom liked these so much when she saw them on me, she ordered herself a pair!
