Recomend as gel only belt

I bought this for my wife. I thought I was buying a belt with one water flask. She says she likes it but has trouble drinking water from the gel flask. I am not sure why you would need gel without water? I should have bought her the Thunderbolt belt.

The pocket size is great for long runs. It has enough space to carry cell phone, small emergency medical kit, power bar, ID, keys, etc. I am a little worried about putting anything in the ID pocket, it seems like it might fall out.
