nice to have

Black Diamond Traverse Ski Poles

Black Diamond Traverse Ski Poles

Rating for this product: 5 January 30, 2010

it is so much nicer to have two poles at the same level when going up a steep switchbacking skintrack! Simply shorten one and use it on your uphill side. The flintlock works great and is easy to operate with gloves on. I would recomend these to a friend hands down.

light and compress well

Rab Photon Insulated Pant - Men's

Rab Photon Insulated Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 30, 2010

good pants so far, seem to fit right, and design is good. I have not used them much as they went straight into my compression sack in the pack as an extra layer if needed. They compress to almost nothing, maybe 1/2 a nalgene in size and are a light warm layer for when you need it.

Backcountry.com Stoic 2.0 Shell - Women's

Backcountry.com Stoic 2.0 Shell - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 January 30, 2010

bought it for my girl and she loves it... sleves are long enough, it fits great all around. Absolutly waterproof, the water just beads and rolls off of this as if it was a rubber rain coat. Great lightweight shell.

great shovel

Voile T Wood Shovel

Voile T Wood Shovel

Rating for this product: 4 January 30, 2010

bomb proof, solid construction, saw comes in handy for doing test in the snow pit, and or cutting branches if needed. A touch heavy but worth the extra oz's in my opinion, now if I could just get the guys that would be digging me out to get the same quality shovel...

To Small.

DAKINE Tactic Backpack - 1500cu in

DAKINE Tactic Backpack - 1500cu in

Rating for this product: 2 January 30, 2010

TO SMALL. I had to upgrade to the BD alias in order to fit backcountry ski gaer in it. Once you get your shovel, probe, some extra layers and lunch in you have no room for skins or any other layers that you will shed on the way up. Ski carry does not hold skis firmly, you can tighten them up but it will just loosen as soon as you try to shoulder the pack. Spend more and get a better pack.
