Weird Sizing

Darn Tough Merino Wool Mesh 1/4 Sock

Darn Tough Merino Wool Mesh 1/4 Sock

Rating for this product: 2 January 16, 2009

I normally wear a large but that was too small and the x-large was too big. I bought the XL figuring that it would shrink, but it did not. Really can't wear the socks because the extra material is ill-placed and causes discomfort.
Aside from the sizing, I don't think these are as great as many say they are. I would agree that they are more durable than Smartwool, but not nearly as comfortable.

Nice bottle...

Backcountry.com Goat Klean Kanteen - 27 oz

Backcountry.com Goat Klean Kanteen - 27 oz

Rating for this product: 3 January 16, 2009

The bottle is nice and the cap is secure. However, it does sweat so be careful of where you store it (for example, don't leave it inside your pack with your clothes else they will get wet). Mouth is nice size and is easy to drink from w/o spilling fluid on yourself vs. the plastic bottles that require the little insert. Kind of expensive; why change to steel if you already have a store of plastic bottles.
One bummer is that a sticky product label was stuck to the inside of the cap. Removing it was a pain and left a sticky residue for a few days until it wore off.

Nice Shirt

Ibex Fausto Light Weight Merino Wool Jersey - Men's

Ibex Fausto Light Weight Merino Wool Jersey - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 October 2, 2008

The design of the shirt is very nice. Compared to traditional wool jerseys, it is designed just like a bike jersey made of polyester. It has 3 back pockets and an elastic waist. The chest zipper is deep and the pull doesn't bounce. I like the wool material. It breathes well, is warm in cool weather and cool in hot weather. However, when it gets wet, it does take longer to dry. Also, I live in the NE, which has some really humid summer days. I find that on these days, it's not as cool.

How's the sizing on these? Are they on the narrow side? Any other detail regarding fit would be appreciated.

Protective Shoe

Vasque Mercury Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Vasque Mercury Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 June 6, 2008

The Mercury's are a very comfortable and protective shoe. The toebox is wide and has a good bumper, which combined protects well against toe stubs on rocks and stuff. The fit is good overall except I do feel that the heel is wide. I've also used the Blur and found the fit of that shoe's heel to be a bit more narrow. I used the Mercury recently to run the entire Massanutten 100 mile ultra race. This race is known for its rocky trails. I thought the Mercury was very protective against the rocks. The only downside was that I thought the shoes took a long time to dry out after they got wet.
