Necky Eliza Kayak with Rudder

Necky Eliza Kayak with Rudder

Rating for this product: 5 April 13, 2011

Tested this kayak out among many others on a Demo day, and found this to be one of the best and esiest kayaks to "get going" and to get in and out of. I'm a small guy, 5'5" at 140 with a 30" inseam and this kayak felt perfect. I have yet to buy it cause of money and I'm in the middle of the mountains, but recomend it to those looking for an easy to paddle kayak! The rudder is amazing in rough waters as well as in smooth waters.

Metolius Multi Loop Gear Sling

Rating for this product: 5 April 15, 2010

I've had this Mulit Gear Loop Gear Sling for the past like 5+ years now, and I absolutely love it! I've put a whole trad rack on the gera sling and I have put all my quickdraws on my harness. It seperates the gear nicely for me as well. I don't go climbing without it!

Best Belay Device!

Petzl Reverso 3 Belay and Rappel Device

Petzl Reverso 3 Belay and Rappel Device

Rating for this product: 5 August 9, 2009

The only belay device I will be using for any climb!!! Significatnly lighter then the Black Diamond ATC Guide! If you are using a rope over 10.2, or one that has been used a lot and is now extremely fat, you might find it a bit tricky to feed the rope through. No biggie though, since the ropes I use are not bigger then a 10.2 I perfer this device over any other device out on the market, even teh gri-gri.

Lightweight, Excellence

Osprey Packs Talon 44 Backpack - 2600-2700cu in

Osprey Packs Talon 44 Backpack - 2600-2700cu in

Rating for this product: 4 August 9, 2009

I use this pack to bring my rope and the rest of my climbing gear to the local crag and it can handle it all!!! Only thing I don't like about the sizing is I'm right between the small and the medium. Ended up going with the small. Don't get me wrong, I love this pack's lightweight and all of it's features. But I think osprey needs to tune their sizing a bit more. It holds all the gear I need for a long day hike through the adirondack mountains. Unlike most other backpacks I've used, the Talon series provides me the best ventilation for my back. A huge plus in my book. I've put comfortably carried around 40 pounds on a multi day trip and was completely comfortable!

The North Face Crestone 75 Backpack - 4300-4880cu in

August 9, 2009

Yes, this bag does have a slot for the tube to go through. I have the older version of this and the slot where the bladder goes into, can be a little tricky to deal with, when inserting a full water bladder. I use a 100 oz bladder. They make a womens specific version. The North Face Crestone 60.

Light weight, extremely comfortable

Petzl Adjama Harness - Men's

Petzl Adjama Harness - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 9, 2009

I could not ask for a better harness for trad climbing. From a local single pitch to the multi pitch all day routes, this harness remains comfortable. I wish there was a fifth loop in the back of the harness and a bigger tie in loop. Otherwise, the harness is Excellent. I love the perforated padding, which helps to keep the sweat down when climbing. I owned this one before, and after about 5+ years of continious use, I needed a new one and no question what harness I would get! I recomend this to anyone looking for an excellent all around, comfortable harness.

EXCELLENT ALL AROUND SHOE

Merrell Moab GTX XCR Shoe - Men's

Merrell Moab GTX XCR Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 9, 2009

I've had the same pair for the past year and a half. I use them for light and fast day hikes as well as kicking around town and games of ultimate frisbee. They work well in all conditions. Great tred has given me great traction on almost any surface. My feet have never been wet thanks to the Gore-Tex. Comfortable right out of the box. The toe rubber is starting to come off. Foot fatigue is something a lot of people deal with, and I've never had that problem, not even when carrying a 25-35 pound pack. Shoes are showing wear, then again, I've used these shoes in everything from desert walking to hiking on snowy/muddy trails to rock scrambling. So all my adventures plus use as an every day shoe, the wear they show is expected. Will be getting another pair very soon!

Only Con: Merell should sew the toe rubber piece to the actual shoe, instead of glue only.

AMAZING PACK!!!!

The North Face Crestone 75 Backpack - 4300-4880cu in

The North Face Crestone 75 Backpack - 4300-4880cu in

Rating for this product: 5 July 27, 2009

I have an older version of this pack but never the less, it's amazing!! I've comfortably carried enough food, water, and equipment to last a week in this bag at one time. Great storage space inside. Really love the Top, Front and Bottom access points. In my older version, the sleeping bag compartment opening was larger then this one. I've carried I think around like 50lbs+ in this pack. Make sure your load adjusting straps on the top are set correctly otherwise, the pack will feel like its all on your shoulders and not your hips. I still like my pack better then the new one cause in mine you had a better front access pocket and more storage space in the front pocket. I recomend this to anyone looking for an amazing pack for 3+ day long to week long backpacking/camping trips. It also works well for hiking in from basecamp to the climbing crag and carrying all your gear (rope, harness, shoes, helmet, a full rack), food water, and more. I couldn't ask for a better backpack!!!!!

AMAZING SHOE!!!!!!

La Sportiva Cobra Climbing Shoe - Discontinued Rubber

La Sportiva Cobra Climbing Shoe - Discontinued Rubber

Rating for this product: 5 July 27, 2009

I've had this same shoe for the past 7 years!!!!! I've only resoled it once cause I mainly used it for indoor climbing. Since moving to colorado, I've used it a lot outside bouldering, and I still love the way it performs. It's stretched to about a half to a full size from when I first got it, but I still love the shoe. I can still stand on micro edges and heel hook anything. This shoe is amazing for any level of climber. Be it you are an expert and want a performance slipper or a beginner looking to get your toes and feet stronger by using a supple shoe. I recomend going with a tight fit because they WILL stretch out. My shoe size is an 8 but I wear a 39 to a 39.5 Excellent all around shoe you can use for anything!

BEST TENT I'VE OWNED!!!!

Kelty Corrie 2-Person 3-Season Tent

Rating for this product: 5 July 27, 2009

I've used many different styles and brands of tents when cmaping and hiking. I can confidently say this is the best tent I've used over my many years of hiking and camping. It's really light weight and provides really good cross ventilation for those warm nights, even with the fly on. There are three external vents that are on the fly that allow you to have them open or closed. I've found on the more chilly nights in late fall, the tent is actually noticablly warmer with the three vents closed. And the mesh part of the tent still allows good ventilation. I've never had a problem with any condesation. Took this tent on a 3 day backpacking trip in the Adirondacks witha a group of friends and absolutely loved it. There is enough space for two people. (i.e. a 5'5" person and a 6' person fit well) Sleeping pads could overlap at the back of the tent, but I've never really found it to be much of a problem at all. The vestibule area is spacious enough to handle a big 75 liter backpack and a few other items as well. If you are using two people in the tent, you might find it a bit crowded with all your packs right outside your door. (Depends on how big your packs are) I would recomend getting like a shower curtin or something to that effect for a tarp on the inside of the tent. This tent is much easier to set up as well because of the hub sections connecting the poles, which makes for fast set up and break down. I've been in pouring rains and moderate winds (5-10mph) and in the hot warm nights as well and this tent has performed outstanding to many other tents I've tried.

I definately recomnd this to both solo and double hikers and campers. It works well if you are solo cause everything fits inside nicely and nothing has to be outside except your shoes.
