Drew Tabke's Olympic Peninsula Surf Mission
Created March 29, 2010
Washington's Olympic Peninsula is one of the rainiest places in the lower 48. But the beaches and waves are so epic that the rain just becomes part of the experience on incredible weekend trips to the coast.

Drew Tabke's Skiing the Muir Snowfield
Created December 10, 2009
The Muir Snowfield is on Washington's mighty Mt. Rainier. Though its low angle and gentle terrain can make it seem benign, its wild surroundings, grand scale, and penchant for vicious weather can make it a surprisingly serious outing.

Dynafit TLT 5 Mountain TF-X Alpine Touring Boot - Men's
September 14, 2011
I've been using these boots spring in NA, all summer in SA, LOVE THEM but having some of the same issues with ball of foot. I've found that a lot of the pressure on my forefoot comes from the liner being extremely narrow, while the shell actually has enough width. So I used a boot punch and heat to extra-stretch the forefoot of the liner (in addition to thermofit). It got super bad on one long trip so I cut some material out of the liner at ball of foot.

The North Face Mountain Approach Shoe - Men's
September 30, 2009
John,
I have them, they are pretty much right in the middle of the shoeroad. My foot is pretty wide and the shoes feel a bit snug, so I would imagine a narrow foot would find them just right or a little spacious. They are also really soft and have laces all the way to the toe, so I doubt they'd feel too loose.

Smith V-Ti Interchangeable Sunglasses
July 23, 2009
I don't believe so, Carl. The question is addressed here: http://www.smithoptics.com/faq.html. Smith's collection of glasses that they offer with Rx lenses is pretty large and you can see the whole line at their website, but I don't believe the V-Ti is offered.

The North Face Off Chute 22 Backpack - 1325cu in
July 23, 2009
Cold water, gentle cycle, mild detergent, and you should be fine.
The burly nylon doesn't really pick up dirt though so you'll wash it between never and hardly ever.

Kahtoola MICROspikes Traction System
July 23, 2009
They won't work that well on ice sheets on Mt. Shasta, especially as the slope angles increases. Also, I think these are best on tennis shoes or lighter boots, so you might not have the ankle support necessary for steeper ice with the shoes you'd be wearing anyway.
But for low-angle snow and ice travel or work in icy conditions these things are amazing.

Smith Super Method Sunglasses - Polarized
May 27, 2009
I've found the frame to be a little small for me when chillin' on the town or beach (I'm a guy, large head) because I like a bigger, fatter looking style. But as a technical shade (ski touring or hiking) the smaller frame gives me a closer fit, I notice them less, and I can move more freely without them bouncing which is nice.
I think its a classic design that will be around for a while.

Go with size L. Holt is another Smith helmet which fits slightly differently, but it looks like you would use a L in either one.
