  • Stomping Grounds:

    Mountains, Canyons, Desert, Ocean, Rivers
  • Bio:

I'm driven to be outdoors however I can. I hike, I bike, I ski, I climb, I kayak, I raft, I swim, I surf, you name it and I probably spend some time doing it. I enjoy getting out to do whatever I can as much as possible. I really love the gear that goes with it, and spend plenty of time researching gear, playing with gear and most importantly using gear.

Atomic Bent Chetler Ski

Atomic Bent Chetler Ski

Rating for this product: 5 December 24, 2011

I'm 6' 200 lbs and bought these when there was only the 183 option. They ski kind of small but I still have plenty of fun with them. Mine are mounted back at team with jesters and honestly I don't ever have a problem with them diving too much and they are still super playful and buttery. I would probably have gotten the 192 if I had the option when I bought them, but they are still killer skis and love every run I take on them.

Armada Layers Fleece Full-Zip Hooded Sweatshirt - Men's

Armada Layers Fleece Full-Zip Hooded Sweatshirt - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 December 24, 2011

Mesh lined and warm. A little more performance than the fievel jacket and cut similar to most tech fleeces. Not long cut by any mean. Cozy and nice for the cold days on the mountain before it hits 0 degrees and you're looking for down.

Super comfy hoodie, wear it all the time and is warm and cozy. Love the fact that its poly fleece and the shoelace at the bottom hem blows minds.

The Shoveler

Black Diamond Deploy 7 Shovel

Black Diamond Deploy 7 Shovel

Rating for this product: 5 December 24, 2011

Fits in my Dakine Heli back pretty well and works great when shoveling from a kneeling/low positive. The short extension is difficult if you are trying to stand while shoveling. Strong enough to handle ski boots jamming down on the top, and works for any number of snow activities.

Solid. Fits 09 Subaru Outback

Thule Atlantis 1200 XT Cargo Box

Thule Atlantis 1200 XT Cargo Box

Rating for this product: 5 December 24, 2011

Have this locked down on my 2009 Subaru Outback with factory roof rack bars. Works perfectly for what I need it for, holding skis and some extra gear to keep space in the back of the car and the backseat open. Also small enough that it can be pushed over to one side to fit a Thule single bike rack on the factory bars. Love the thing, feel secure with it on there and has about 2000 miles already. Mounting system is super easy to use and intuitive.

Like a Glove

DAKINE Sabre Glove - Men's

DAKINE Sabre Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 14, 2011

Pretty compact glove with a lot of warmth to it for its size. Dig it a lot. Graphics for the Pollard model are cool and not too crazy. Make sure you toss some waterproofing on these gloves as soon as possible to keep the seams from soaking in water. First couple uses for me were fine, but after about #2 I started getting wetness. To be expected though. So I put some nikwax on em after time #2. Great gloves, I switch between these and my hestra helis depending on the brrrr factor. These are better for weather up to about 10 degrees F or so. Too much insulation for a spring day.

No leash like others have said, but they are pretty tight. The Large Fits akin to a 7/8 in Hestras.

Oakley Tanner Hall Signature Crowbar Goggle

Oakley Tanner Hall Signature Crowbar Goggle

Rating for this product: 5 January 22, 2011

These goggles with fire are what I use for every high light day. As long as there is sun out, it is a solid choice to have some fire iridium in front of your retinas protecting them from the madness. Other than the usual badassery associated with Crowbars, the THalls have a wicked graphic that will grab attention all over the place.

Oakley Seth Morrison Signature Crowbar Goggle

Oakley Seth Morrison Signature Crowbar Goggle

Rating for this product: 5 January 22, 2011

These goggles with the G30 lens are my go-to for 90% of days out skiing. As long as you don't have direct sunlight hitting you constantly, these will be keen for being able to see whats going on. I wear them with a Bern watts helmet and they fit excellently. No painful pressure points, no cloudy spots...even when I wear them while hiking. As long as these goggles fit your face correctly, you will not be let down by them. Rock it like a champ!

Where we're going we won't need roads...

Marker Duke 16 Ski Binding

Marker Duke 16 Ski Binding

Rating for this product: 4 December 12, 2010

If you take a lift to the top of a hill, the strap skins on and traverse over to the top of another hill, deskin and then charge down a line littered with drops, gaps, pillows and overall gnar...then the Duke is exactly what you want.
If you get out of your car and then break trail on a 2000' foot ascent then ski down a conservative line, then the Dukes are not your first choice.
In the land of AT bindings, there's a continuum with one extreme being Dynafit (light and fast) and the other extreme being Marker Dukes (burly and heavy), with Fritschi and the like in the middle of those two. As long as you accept that fact you will put more legwork to get to the peak than some of the other kids, you can revel in your 16 DIN clamps and the hucks you can do on the way down.

K2 Hellbent Alpine Ski

December 12, 2010

There are some who use Hellbents as daily drivers, but I would say they're not the best for crud and crust because they have a bit too much flop to them. You'll get through it with enough power, but you'll also get kicked around a bit.
I would look for a bit skinnier ski if you want a wet pow ski...
JJs, Blogs, Seths probably more what you want.
