Small face, small glasses

Smith Redline Sunglasses

Smith Redline Sunglasses

Rating for this product: 3 1 day ago

I got the white, bronze lens. I've got a tiny bean. These stay snug on my small bean, but I'd like the lens to be a little larger. I wear these mostly for trail running and wear the glasses pretty sung up against my face. Because these are smaller, the lower part of the lens is in the periphery. I've gotten used to it over time, but took some adjusting. Overall the lens is good, but I'm not an expert there. Ideally, I'd get a polarized pair, but didn't want to spend the extra stones (tend to lose glasses), so these work well. Good, not great.

Stoic'd

Stoic Luft Insulated Sweater - Men's

Stoic Luft Insulated Sweater - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 3 days ago

I was looking for a light mid-layer and was considering a Patagonia micro-puff and the Patagonia nano. I also wanted the full zip vs the nano and the micro-puff fit a bit more "bulky" than the athletic cut I wanted from a mid layer. I decided to give the Stoic a go and very happy. I've been a fan of the Goat gear and know the folks there put a lot of thought into their designs.

Net-net: Love it, rec it. Will be back for more Stoic.

I'm 5'10", 160 l-b's, the medium fits perfect, snug at the waist, sung collar, but not too tight, and easy to move the arms without the jacket crawling all up on me.

Pros:
-The jacket is even lighter than I expected and I knew the weight from the tech specs. It's like wearing a feather, looks dope.
-Love the stitching on the coat, keeps the insulation organized after I ball it up in my pack and also looks cool.
-The waist is snug and has a micro pull in the pockets that actually works and works well (I've got several other jackets that it feels like I'm just going to break the pull).
-Doesn't look like a garbage bag (though I'd love to see a color other than black)
-Seems very durable but haven't really worn on it yet. Will update here as the season progresses.
-Have only had it in the rain when outside walking the dogs. Dried out very quickly when I got it back home.

Tweaks (wouldn't call em cons, all minor):
-I like the inner cuffs when I'm wearing it as an outer layer over a thin glove. However, when I put a shell on, the longer sleeves bulk up under my shell at my wrists and make a glove with a gusset a little harder. I'd probably prefer just the snug wrist cuff, but that's me.
-The outer pocket zips are a little small. Would like to see a bulkier zipper there. When I have a big glove on, a little tuff to grab and feel a little flimsy.
-Would love to see an extra layer of material on the zipper wind flap (patagonia always does this on their thin walled shelss). Keeps the zipper from grabbing on a one handed zip and also keeps the flap from wearing over time.
-The pictures above show a red/orange liner. The jacket is all black in and out with red zips (probably just a design vs production adjustment). Functionally, all the same, just a cosmetic difference.
-Rather than a thread through earphone cord router, would like to see the Velcro fold over (Naronna sheels have these). Makes in and out a lot easier...no thread the needle.

Love these...Great deal, move in the shoe well (I like a snug shoe and a little more slip between the sock and shoe)...they're warm, but breathe well so not to get foot rot...and I love the non standard colors with the goat logo on the heal. Definitely beat the heck outta my wigwams

Patagonia Traverse Softshell Jacket - Men's

Patagonia Traverse Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 27, 2009

Love this jacket....This is a great lightweight soft shell. It stretches well and breathes great as well. It's got a mini zip cord to snug up the bottom and a fleece lined inner collar to minimize chafe. I also like the arm cuffs are nice and sung on the wrists and the pockets are soft lined to warm up your hands if needed. I use it for cycling on cooler, slightly damp days (repels light water well) and on cooler trail runs when I know I'll be wearing a coat the entire run.

Patagonia Nine Trails Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 25, 2009

I keep this jacket in my back back on long trail runs for when the weather changes (packs up nice and small, see my picture above). It's light as a feather, sheds water pretty well, yet still breathes if I just need to stay warm. I like the stretch panels under arms and back. It also comes down a little lower in the tail which helps with water mud splashing up on my back, but not down my shorts.

Patagonia R4 Fleece Jacket - Men's

Patagonia R4 Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 April 23, 2009

Have had this for about 2 years now and is always my go to fleece when it's cold as an outer layer and I'm active (too warm when it's get's 50+). It blocks wind like no other fleece and it ain't bad on the eyes. I've got the older version, which is a little bulkier than the current. As a baselayer, I use it for fly-fishing quite a bit, but for skiing, is a little bulky for me and I use an R2 under a shell. My only complaint is the pockets that combine as ventilation. I use my pockets quite a bit, so as a causal wear, can sometimes be a little cold.

Easton EA70 Wheel Set - 700C

Easton EA70 Wheel Set - 700C

Rating for this product: 4 September 16, 2008

These aren't the lightest wheels on the planet and certainly wouldn't call them a race wheel, but they are a very solid everyday trainer and don't think you'll find a better option in this $ range. The hub does make the ratchet noise when you're not peddling, but I've never found that to be a problem with this wheel or any other.

Mountain Hardwear WindStopper Tech Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 16, 2008

I've used these as an outer layer for snowshoeing and winter hiking as well as an underlayer on cold ski days. Very warm, versatile, and enough room to move, but not so much that your swimming in fabric. The inner fabric doesn't irratate or grab the skin nor does the outer layer grab under ski pants (although like all fleece it will collect some burs and snow at times). These are my goto pants when I want to stay warm.

Solid Pack...

Patagonia Endurance Pack - 750 cu in

Patagonia Endurance Pack - 750 cu in

Rating for this product: 4 September 16, 2008

Have used this on numerous trail runs (winter, spring, and summer) and a handful of mountain bike rides. I love the side pockets for easy access as well as the suspension system that allows you to snug this baby up pretty tight, but there are a lot of strap remnants hanging around if that bothers you. The front pocket has expandable mesh which I've found allows you to well overstuff it if you need to. I'd agree with others that the bottom/main pocket is a bit hard to access, but haven't found that to be that big of deal. In the winter and rain, this sheds water very well. The pack also has 2 outside attachment points and comes with 2 straps, but I've not yet found a use for these. End of the day, solid construction, great wear, a titch on the heavy side.

Patagonia Footwear Flop Along Sandal - Men's

Patagonia Footwear Flop Along Sandal - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 September 16, 2008

A rigid sandal, but very comfortable after the leather molds to your foot (1 week of solid wear). Great grip on the sole and no irritation by the foothold. If you like you sandals to be pretty flexible, these may not be for you. I have these in brown and the another Patagoina sandal in black (can't recall which one) and the black ones are more flexible. I tend to go back to these more often than the soft version.

Patagonia Micro Puff Zip Vest - Men's

Patagonia Micro Puff Zip Vest - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 September 16, 2008

As you'll see be my other reviews, I'm a fan of Patagonia gear. Always can count on quality construction and attention to detail and this vest follows suit. I keep this vest in my ski pack and use it on the days when I get the chill under my shell. It retains warmth very well, packs away into it's own pocket nicely and doesn't feel bulky as an underlayer (plus the nylon fabric is smooth and doesn't catch). I also find myself using it after I get off the mountain to keep my core warm while sittin' on the deck and drinkin' a few suds. Overall solid layer. Only complaint I'd have is to remove a bit of material under the arms and make the armholes more snug.

Patagonia Capilene 1 Graphic T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 16, 2008

I wear this most as a running t-shirt in the summer. While it's not the lightest shirt on my closet, it's the one I often go to the most because it wicks well and keeps me warm when the sun drops a bit (i.e. doesn't hold water like a sponge). Great base layer or summer outer layer. Doesn't look bad either

Patagonia Lightweight Hiking Crew Sock

Patagonia Lightweight Hiking Crew Sock

Rating for this product: 5 September 16, 2008

Have several pairs of these in various colors that I use in the fall/winter. They're like a snug sleeping bag for your feet. They fit great, are comfy both for daily use or as a hiking sock. They also breathe very well so I don't get that foot stank my other half loves me for. A bit more expensive for socks, but they'll last well beyond the typical socks I'd by and look much cooler (at least that's how I justified them to the wife).

Patagonia Nine Trails Short - Men's

Patagonia Nine Trails Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 16, 2008

I've had several pairs of Patagonia running shorts and I'd have to say these are my favorites. the materiel is softer and not the light/swishy stuff in some of there other shorts. Thus, this makes no noise and also stays down on my legs vs riding up in my crotch. I've had no any seam rub issues after a few hundred miles on these. The length is not the shortest, but not overly long either. The angled pockets are great for access on the run. In my opinion, a great short (so much that I purchased a 2nd pair so I didn't have to wait as long for the laundry cycle).

Merrell Stealth T-Shirt - Button-Down - Men's

September 14, 2008

I'd say the naming of this as a button down t-shirt is a bit of a misnomer. In my book, if it's got buttons (not to mention a collar), it can't be a t-shirt. This one has buttons and a collar = button down.

Rating for this product: 4 March 6, 2008

I had the chance to wear this coat in the resort on a few weather variable days, including a little rain. I'm typically a hard shell guy, but loved the ease at which I could move in the composite. The coat shed outside moisture and also breathed like a champ. I didn't have to touch any extra layers all day. The coat is an athletic fit, which I like. I'm 5' 10.5", and the medium fits perfect.

Rating for this product: 5 February 27, 2008

Hope I never have to use it, but definitely happy to have the extra lifesaver with the avalung. Having it integrated into the pack is really awesome and doesn't impact use of the pack in any way. Love the separate pockets for probe/shovel and gear. Would love to have aa pocket or two on the waist belt for easy food access, but jacket works as well. I have the 32L and big enough for food, water bladder, and extra layers, without being too bulky.

Norrøna Narvik Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 26, 2008

If you're looking for an athletic cut fleece that can be worn both as an outer layer, this is a great pick. I've worn this fleece as an outer layer on several hikes and snowshoes...definitely no bulk, but plenty of warmth and a functional hood. I tend not to wear hoodies as under layers, so I've not tried it there. I also like the euro color (got it in green)...have enough black, grey, and dulls in the lineup, so was happy to see something different. Have definitely become a Noronna fan and now own a few pieces. Top quality and attention to detail.

Patagonia Down Sweater Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 26, 2008

This is one of my favorite jackets...Light, warm, and a good looker (have last year's in burnt orange). Love that it compresses into it's own pouch as well. Works great as an outerlayer and if you need a shell, works great and doesn't feel bulky underneath. I'm 5' 10" and thin, the medium fits lwell (as does most Patagonia mediums). I also like that the collar is relatively snug , but not too tight around the neck to keep out the cold and falling snow when fully zipped

Patagonia R2 Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 26, 2008

Definitely not the fleece to wear as an outer layer on a windy day, but toasty warm under a shell and keeps you war on a fall/spring day. As always, love the Patagonia fit. Something about the fuzzy outside makes me feel a little warmer. I also like the offset zipper...The beard always seems to grab on my other fleeces and jackets, but never on this one. They also went the extra lenght and sewed in an R1 fleece into the cuffs to keep em snug.

If you don't like floppy hoods, the one piece hood/collar combo snugs up to the back of your neck when hot in use, but still fits well over a helmet when you need it. I also got the Norrona pants and the shell either buttons to or zips in for a bombproof combo.

Rating for this product: 5 December 5, 2007

I've had these shoes for over 4 weeks now and love them. After trail running on just regular road trainers, the XCR's are a great improvement. They're still light, yet have have sweet grip and don't even have to think about slipping on the trail. Just for giggles I even ran through a few ice cold streams to see if they were waterproof and came out dry. I'm also digging the pull lace up mechanism. I've also like a little wider toe box and was happy that I didn't feel like my toes we're being crammed.
