The North Face Big Shot Backpack - 2015cu in

The North Face Big Shot Backpack - 2015cu in

Rating for this product: 3 December 7, 2009

Ive had this bag for over a year now and have a few things to report. The mesh that sits against your back covering the exolite holds heat and sweat in like crazy. On short 4-6 hour day hikes in the summer your back will be soaked. The mesh material is also not durable at all, mine is coming apart along the waist line. The chest and waist strap are mediocre at best. The bag is definitely not waterproof and only water resistant if your not going far. The pros of this bag are that it is great for carrying your schoolbooks and laptop. I use it constantly for traveling on 3-4 nighters to visit friends or family or whatever. Lots of room and very versatile. Perfect for some but definitely not all.

Patagonia R4 Fleece Jacket - Men's

November 27, 2009

I have the R4 lightweight and I prefer it over the other 2 jackets you mentioned, especially for what you plan to use it for. The LW R4 is definitely the most versatile, and imo best looking.

Five Ten Coyote Lace-Up Climbing Shoe

Five Ten Coyote Lace-Up Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 5 November 12, 2009

This is my first pair of climbing shoes and i must say they have been great. I got a size smaller than my regular shoe size and they fit perfectly, no blisters and not too cramped. Ive been using these for about a year and they are in need of a resole, but they have been USED. Overall these have been great shoes and I recommend them to anyone.

Backcountry.com Shift Welder Hoody - Men's

Backcountry.com Shift Welder Hoody - Men's

Ok, let me start off by saying i love this jacket, the fit is great, and the color is awesome (tahoe M 6'2 185). I find myself wearing this jacket more often than not. Now to my complaint. The jacket is just average in its water shedding abilities. I live in Olympia, Wa and after only 15-20 minutes in a light drizzle the shoulders are soaked all the way through as are some spots on the arms. Now i know that this isnt a "waterproof" jacket but i was expecting a little more in a "highly water resistant" jacket. Another complaint has already been mentioned, the fact that there are no velcro wrist straps. As well as the jacket repels the wind a breeze always seems to climb up the sleeves. Therefore i can only recommend this jacket for moderate to light weather, anything more than that and your better off with something else. Though i guess this is the niche market a softshell is fulfilling.
