Bio:
I basically like to get out and experience everything mother nature throws at me. My upbringing in WA State, developed my appreciation for the outdoors and it's adventures. I've spent six years in Germany and hiked/ backpacked/ cross-country ski-ed/ and volks-marched in several other countries. I still get out to ski, snowboard, hike, and cycle.

Arc'teryx Venta AR Softshell Jacket - Men's
February 2, 2009
if you're deciding between these two, the Gamma AR will be much better as a layering piece. You should look at the Hercules, though, which is ideal as a layer, and a medium protection outer softshell.Edit (Jersey Hiker):Keep in mind that an underlayer with a smooth face fabric (hercules, Tau or Rho ar) will slide smoothly under the Scorpion. Regular fleece layers tend to bindPersonally, I would steer clear of any jacket with a wind membrane as an underlayer for a waterproof shell - it's unnecessary and can kill the breathability. In my opinion, the Hercules could be overkill since you already have some insulation on the Scorpion, but if you run cold then maybe that's ok with you. I would go with a more conventional fleece with an open face fabric.I agree 100% with the previous answer. I have the Scorpion and use the Rho with it or Ether Comp jersey.

The North Face Eureka! Full Zip Hooded Sweatshirt - Women's
January 12, 2009
I can't help ya with the reviews, but it's 80/20 cotton/poly, so I'm sure it's machine washable. I brought one for my friend, this is an above average sweatshirt - that's hooded. Good quality. Also the "fur" is undetachable - unzippered from the base of the hood's rim and unbuttoned (5) from the collar/hood. I hope this was kinda useful.

The North Face Mammatus Jacket - Men's
December 2, 2008
Personally, I would go with Arc'Ts Theta AR. The Spyder Leader and/or Pursuit jacket would come next- weighty but very flexible. TNF Mammatus and Arc't Beta AR are closely mirrored and both have and will give you the flexibility when needed doing excursions on the slopes. Depending on your skiing "endurances" - with "regular jaunts", go Spyder. The other three mentioned are equally matched - But I think that TNF Mammatus is a point above. I hope this gives you some type of idea. That's my opinion.

Norrøna Lofoten Gore-Tex Pro Shell Jacket - Women's
December 2, 2008
With European jackets, usually order a size up. My Norrona is an XL and I generally wear a medium across the board in Arc'T, TNF, MH, Burton, etc. From experience with Norrona, the medium will fit but a L will give you the ample arm-length you want. Also, the cut is close fitting with room for ample layering. I hope this helps.

The North Face Mammatus Jacket - Men's
October 16, 2008
The inseam, the back length I'm assuming, is 30in. and 29-1/2in. on the front measurement. Pretty much tailered all around. I hope that this helps.

The North Face Mammatus Jacket - Men's
October 14, 2008
For sure! and it's versatile so you can use it in all seasons, really. But not too stiff because of the tough strategically pattern, Gore-Tex, placements. If you are familiar with Arc'teryx's Beta AR - it's a mirrored image.

Arc'teryx Theta AR Jacket - Men's - DO NOT USE
June 30, 2008
Point taken kindly MOkoFOko. I do agree with it's liteness and basic - don't need the thrills design - it's very functionable. I'll look into Granger's. THNX!

Arc'teryx Beta AR Jacket - Women's
May 14, 2008
I brought my friend, size 4, a small and it overwhelmed her, but see loved it. This size will also fit 6 and 8 - it was tested by her friends. The only situation with the 8 was that it raised alittle high in the front. She's 5ft'7in. Other than that, it was a perfect fit. I think the medium will do you just fine. Good luck.
