Therm-a-Rest Compack Camp Chair
July 12, 2011
no, not on the compact there isn't clips. And to have it 'disengage' from you pad, you still need to unstrap the middle strap as well as it holds the foot of your pad. Try the Therm-a-Rest Trekker Lounge Chair, same price, little heavier, but comes with clips and you can lay it down

Hestra Army Leather Gore-Tex XCR Glove
June 16, 2011
I own a pair of the non gore tex hestras.I ski an average of 30X a year. Plus I tour which leaves me more in the open and less time to stop in one place and warm up. To put in perspective, I got the gloves I did because from the reviews I read they were extremely warm gloves and very high wind resistance. After using them for a season the only time they weren't toasty was when the temps dropped (without wind chill)to about -10F, I was high on a mountain with 40 mph winds. The wind did not get through the gloves, just the cold temps, and on the same note, they weren't cold, just not hot as normal.
I firmly believe that is you go to the higher grade army gloves, you will be completely protected as far as wind coverage, I know the liners are extremely warm as they are comparable to the non gore tex.

ALPS Mountaineering Compression Sack
May 13, 2011
you don't need the compression sacs if you're using these. I would say use the large to be on the safe side for the long 0 degree. Even if you have a little extra room, you synch down the bag and would be pretty much the same size of a medium. If you packing the poles with your tent, measure the length of the poles and get the sac accordingly. They sacs are all pretty wide so most tents should fit in them dependant on length

Sea To Summit eVent Compression Dry Sack
May 13, 2011
The compression sac makes my life easier everytime I use it. The sac is quite long so it's easier to put the bag in, takes a minute to clip and wrestle the top on. but once you have them lined up you can really crank down and make your bag tiny. and the sac is totally waterproof.

Thule Fairings
May 9, 2011
you can put in on a factory roof rack. You have to get different adaptors to match your cars bars. the only thing that secures the fairing is a screw and a wingnut. you can get adaptors probably from any hardware store

Dynafit TLT Speed Binding
January 19, 2011
I just am getting into AT skiing. I purchased the TLT speed used, some scarpa terminator Xs and mounted them. From what I can tell I mounted them correctly, with the exception of when I'm skinning in touring mode (piece up), if I rotate my heel, and there is resistance, I will pop out of the toe. It doesn't happen all the time, and I try to keep my boots straight, but if I have to turn or lean I risk the pop out.
I'm pretty sure there isn't a way to adjust the toes, is there something else that I am doing incorrectly? They are in good condition, but maybe the springs aren't as strong?
cheers!

Mountain Hardwear Downhill Down Parka - Men's
December 15, 2010
I have been looking for a cold temps skiable down jacket for a little bit now. However, The only differences I see btw the subzero and the downhill parka are a powder skirt and removeable fur. What else contributes to the $125 price difference?

I'm looking for a good pair of pants for XC skiing/ snowshow/ spring skiing/ fall, spring hiking. Has to be pretty water resistant, read some pretty darn good reviews, how would these stand up against the Mountain Hardwear Winter Wander? also, I'm guessing the XL for a 38X33?
