Hydro Photon SteriPEN Classic Handheld Water Purifier

December 9, 2010

You may have a problem with the tube that doesn't get UV'd. I'd recommend taking off the tube when using the Steri-pen, ensuring the tube is ABSOLUTELY dry and then reconnecting it - the same is true of the mouthpiece.

Atlas 11 Series Snowshoe

November 6, 2010

I have a pair of Atlas 1130's and am looking for a backpack to haul them around. Without using a lot of awkward and clumsy straps and bungees, etc. is there any pack that is designed carry snowshoes vertically - don't want to carry them horizontally - they get caught in the branches, etc. Thanks in advance!!

GREAT pants

Mountain Hardwear Mesa Pant - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Mesa Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 12, 2010

Have had these pants for a couple of years - rain, snow, heat, cactus, water, these pants are perfect - they don't do well with barbed wire though. Pockets are placed so your waterproof wallet doesn't ride on your glutes - it rides off to the side - perfect! Tighten down the hems so they don't get cauht in the brush - just right (might want to order you pants a bit longer than is normal to tighten). Internal loop belt - doesn't snag and the buckle is dead simple - no snags. I'm preparing to place an order for another pair(see 'barbed wire' above) and anticipate another couple of years of happily panted bliss.

Easy to use

CamelBak Big Bite Valve Mouthpiece

CamelBak Big Bite Valve Mouthpiece

Rating for this product: 4 May 1, 2008

Good water flow BUT don't depend on it to keep water in when the pack is horizontal or wrong side up - always install an open/closed inline valve - I lost most of my water through the valve on the way to a VERY isolated site. Camelbak sells these valves for about $6 dollars or so - they work very well.
