Bio:
Backpacking is my core outdoor passion, having food, water and shelter all on my back makes me feel truly free & independent but I also like to hump along some books, beverages and plenty of treats for me and the dog to have some of the creature comforts. Snowboarding and hiking anywhere with my Aussie Shepherd Gordie also are on top of the list, I use the gear we sell & find that most if not all of it is top o' the line stein son!

Crazy Creek Hexalite Powerlounger Camp Chair
August 7, 2009
Not sure on the exact dimensions Jim...I'm 6'2" & anywhere from 230 - 240lbs. (depending on the week!), & this thing fits me great, no problems with durability etc.
Looks like we're out of stock right now but I'm really happy with this chair, great in the tent, weighs nothing (feels like less than a pound) & really adds a comfort dimension to my backpacking excursions.
Great buy! :)

Brunton My-TI Folding Spork
August 6, 2009
I've used for two full backpacking seasons & it's still never folded up when I didn't want to on my 3rd season...the slide is easy to move up & down but never seems to loosen when I don't want it to; besides, I just let some of my cheesy lasagna dry up in their & it's even more solid! You won't be disappointed, a great buy. :)

Black Diamond Icon Headlamp
August 5, 2009
From what I've heard from fellow backpackers (& Karl Meltzer is a pro ass trail runner & he uses it, that should be enough of an endorsement, see his review up top) this is the better light & if the Icon is cheaper I'm sure you'll be happy with that. But whatever one you go with, if you buy it from us & it breaks just return it, ya' dig?

Black Diamond Icon Headlamp

If it works for Karl Meltzer (plus read his review at the top!)...I'm pretty sure it will be what you want...& I feel the weight isn't an issue because it's balanced well (it's not heavy up front only for example); the battery pack is in back & the lamp is obviously in front...the balanced weight makes it feel perfect in my opinion (& it will only make your neck stronger!).

Black Diamond Icon Headlamp

I agree with Angus again (he's the truth people)...I've got a great pic (would look crappy uploaded but it's funny for me) of a Moose with my light on him & all you can see is the reflected eyes of the beast...plus everytime my mutts are waiting for me at night I look forward & see their eyes reflected for sure...they look like zombie dogs, maybe yellow is better but white certainly reflects also!

Black Diamond Icon Headlamp
August 5, 2009
Hey Bill,
If you push the button and it clicks you've changed the mode & pushed too hard...what Angus is saying is that you barely press (i.e. depress) the button (without making a click noise) & voila you are cycling through modes, the strobe function will be the last so you have to depress 3-4 times to get to it, just play with the button w/out clicking it...you'll see what Angus means (I'm only adding this since there is a thumbs down to Angus' answer, but he nailed it, so give the man a thumbs up!). :)

Black Diamond Icon Headlamp

It totally depends on the helmet Garth, it's got a battery pack in the back that may get in the way, but depending on the helmet design it may work. I say give it a try & return it if you don't like because you would love it on night rides...it's like having a car headlight with you & I'm not joking dude! :)

Ruffwear Palisades Dog Pack
February 20, 2009
I would try ruffwear.com and see if they make or can make a pack for the bigger dog, I'm not sure but they may offer an XL version of their pack on custom order and backcountry.com may not carry the xl right now due to not many people having dogs that big & the ones that do probably don't take them backpacking too much, glad to see that you do!
