Petzl Irvis 10-Point Crampon

Petzl Irvis 10-Point Crampon

Rating for this product: 4 September 29, 2011

I the Petzl Irvis crampons for the first time for glacier travel along the summit to Gannett Peak in the Wind River Range, WY. They slipped off once, but after taking extra care to tighten them, they did not slip off again. They worked as advertised.

Vasque Clarion GTX Backpacking Boot - Men's

Vasque Clarion GTX Backpacking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 28, 2010

These are lightweight boots that won't slow you down. They provide all the support I need when something more than Chacos or low-cut boots is called for. These were stiff, initially, but they felt great after a couple long weekends in the Tetons. For demanding long hikes, these are my go-to boots.

Yakima Fork Lift Bike Carrier

Yakima Fork Lift Bike Carrier

Rating for this product: 4 August 15, 2009

The head is a bit bulky and the fit isn't as firm as my Steelhead mount on my Yakima round cross bars, but this is the price paid for versatility. Installation was simple. It holds my bike with disc brakes and if I buy a new car with a factory rack, I'm confident that it will fit.

SmartWool Sport NTS T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

SmartWool Sport NTS T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 15, 2009

I've wore this shirt on strenuous hikes beginning in the cool morning (~50 degF) and ending in the warm afternoon (~80 degF). It regulated my temperature perfectly. It's slim enough to wear as an inner layer and stylish enough to wear on its own. At the end of the day, it doesn't reek like a synthetic will. I've washed it twice without shrinking.

Best I've ever had

Pearl Izumi Infinity Short - Men's

Pearl Izumi Infinity Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 4, 2008

Soft, dry, supportive, and light. They're the best running shorts I've owned. The small pocket in back is perfect for a cell phone or another small but critical item.
