Black Diamond Telekneesis Kneepad

They should work. They have a static strap on the bottom and an elastic strap at the top, so they work really well for about constant flexing, and stay comfortable.

Floppy G3 skins

G3 Alpinist Climbing Skin

G3 Alpinist Climbing Skin

Rating for this product: 3 5 days ago

I have a pair of G3 alpinist skins, and a pair of BD clipfix skins. I by far prefer the BD skins. They're stiff and easy to use in the cold. G3 skins are just too floppy. They both stick well, and I like G3's tip attachments, but what I want in a set of skins is quick, easy use. The BD skins will come right apart when I'm putting them on, and slip right off when I'm ready for the down. The stiffness of the BD skins increases the ease of use at the top of the hill when folding them together; I've not been able to get the G3 skins to stick together evenly easily at all- it's a fight.
If you're like me at the top of the hill, you just want to peel 'em and squeel 'em. Fighting your skins at the top of the hill before a run, is no fun at all.

JJ/EHP/Maestro

Armada JJ Ski

Armada JJ Ski

Rating for this product: 4 5 days ago

So I've checked out the Armada JJ, the 4FRNT EHP, and the Bluehouse Maestro. I went with the Maestros. The JJ's were slightly lighter in weight, skinnier, and had camber underfoot, along with a poppy, semi stiff flex. The EHPs were a bit heavier, more width, no camber and no true twin tip, but with a better feeling, rounder flex. The Maestro was somewhere in between, with a more rounded flex, zero camber, and twin tip/early rise. All three have early rise and early taper, but I opted for the Maestros since they were cheaper. The added few hundred grams is not too much of a burden, except that I have Bomber Bishop tele bindings which are heavy as hell. I like the sidewalls of the Maestros, too, and Bluehouse skis are excellent with warranties.
All that being said, I wouldn't mind having a pair of JJ's with Axl tele bindings for touring, and I think I'll get a pair of 4frnt Renegade EHPs for something bigger.
I tele ski like an alpiner-hard charging, high speed turns, cliffies and pillows.
If you are interested in the JJ's or EHP's, check out bluehouseskis.com- it's the only place to order them, and if you're in the SLC area, you can pick 'em up at the shop below the UofU, Straightline Ski Shop. Great guys who make great skis, and they're all about the skier.

Armada JJ Ski

Forward mount, yo. Gotta watch out for that wheelie effect you get when mounting farther back. I've got 'em mounted with Hamheads, and they're mounted 'park tele- style.' I have the widest part of my boot at the skinniest part of the ski.
If your rear ski tip is coming behind your forward ski or boot, you probably just need to get a longer ski, or work on your technique some more. Close your stance and try to keep your free heel lower down. Don't squat so low in your turns- try to stay upright more. I've seen a lot of tele skiers who put too much weight on one foot or the other, and it all comes down to equal weighting on each ski.
Different skis require different technique, so try leaning forward and making sure both knees are bent.

Lib Technologies NAS Park Alpine Ski

April 13, 2009

Teleskiing these things is cool. I definitely wouldn't recommend a soft binding, though. Hammerheads are perfect for them. You could put some Bishops on there...if you HAVE to...Bishops are just...well...they're for Teleskiers who think they need to beat alpine skiers, and the rest of us chill, layed-back free heelers know that gear is only as good as the skier. That being said, Hammerheads kick ass, and you can always get the stiffy springs. Hammerheads don't break like Bishops, and they cost half as much. As far as mounting goes, put the end of the wings on the binders at the center magne-traction 'bump' for optimal control.
..6 months later: I just got a pair of Bishops for my Maestros...eating my words now.

Black Diamond Ascension Gold Label Skin Glue 4oz can

December 9, 2008

is this stuff any good for touch ups? the tails on my skins have lost a lot of glue, and there's a couple spots on the edges, but for the most part, the glue is good. Can I just apply this in a couple spots as needed?
