Patagonia Synchilla Hi-Plush Bunting - Infants'

Patagonia Synchilla Hi-Plush Bunting - Infants'

Rating for this product: 4 February 4, 2009

This was a wonderfully warm bunting for my 1-year old. The synchilla fleece is really soft and goes through the wash quite nicely. We live in Pittsburgh and this handled shuttling between the car and stores in the average 20-35 degree days we have just fine. In fact, my daughter would often be sweaty when I removed her from the bunting and sometimes fussed in the car because she was over warm. I dressed her in normal clothes underneath (jeans, onesie, sweater) and it was so nice not to have to deal with mittens (which always seemed to get removed/lost in stores) and boots. Unfortunately, we only ended up being able to wear this for a couple of weeks because my daughter grew a little bit. She is in the bottom 5th percentile for weight/height and the 12 month size became too small when she was 13 months old. She was wearing the 6-9 month size in all other clothes so I would say that the 12 month size would not fit most one year olds. We probably needed the 18 month size in this. However, I didn't want to spend that much money again so I opted for the less expensive Columbia version (the one with bear ears) and ended up liking it better because it has flaps at the feet instead of zippers, which allow you to open up the flaps and wear boots when the bunting becomes too short. The Patagonia version would be nice for parents who want to convert it to a bunting bag (the Columbia doesn't do that) or who have a ton of extra room in the legs because the zippered closing will stay more airtight/warm than the flap closing. All in all, this was a nicely made warm bunting for parents trying to keep their little bambino warm!
