La Sportiva Solution Climbing Shoe

November 5, 2009

id say this shoe is better quality. the p3 technology allows the shoe to keep its shape over a long period of time. they do have pretty then soles, so these shoes are probably better for stronger feet. i have not tried the boosters but i think the heel and the p3 technology makes the difference.

La Sportiva Miura VS Climbing Shoe

July 26, 2009

No the aggressiveness will not flatten out, the shoes keep their shape because of the p3 sole technology. the same technology is applied to the sportiva solutions.... the miura does loose its downturned shape however.

Arc'teryx S240 Sport Climbing Harness

these are great if you are just walking around in, or wearing them with socks???? if you skate in them or put more than a few miles on them, they will shred pretty quickly. not worth full price, period.

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero SL Hooded Down Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero SL Hooded Down Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 January 26, 2009

okay, well i would give this jacket 5 stars except for one major thing. But before that let me talk about the pro's of the jacket. The conduit sl material lives up to the reputation of being wind and water resistant. Keep in mind that this is no gor-tex pro and should not be used as so. 650 fill is adequate for the most extreme weather that marquette mi can offer, including temps in the -15's with windchills of up to -30 or 40. The hood is well designed, and unlike the parka it zips on and off which makes it better. the cinched waste does not compare to a powder skirt, but it is not supposed to.This jacket is not made for those deep pow pow days. The double zip feature is perfect because it is very convenient for belaying. And now to the MAJOR con. The zipper of this jacket is extremely frustrating. I have talked to a local shop owner who has reported numerous sub zero sl jackets being warrantied for faulty zippers. My jacket somehow got zipped up unevenly and jammed. when i went to unzip the jacket i blew out 3 teeth on the left side of the jacket. luckily it was near the bottom and i can still wear it for now. these blown out teeth are a major problem though. Backcountry has awesome customer service and will replace this zipper at with no problems, but still, come on? For close to 300 dollars quality should not even be an issue. By all means, buy this jacket, but beware of major zipper issues. They are prevalent and will ruin your day.

Merrell Chameleon Arc Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot - Women's

Merrell Chameleon Arc Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 December 15, 2008

i am a young man with a rather small foot, so i chose these shoes for their waterproofness and mid high style. they are very comfortable, and despite the above review, they were good to go out of the box, for me at least. I took them on many extended day hikes and found that the "waterproof"ness was not all so water proof. I have also warn them snowshoeing and discovered that they need to be waterproofed. Other than that, they are relatively durable. Not quite worth the price in my opinion.

Five Ten Dragon Lace-up Climbing Shoe

Five Ten Dragon Lace-up Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 3 October 20, 2008

so i bought these in sz 6.5 and 7.5 because i was not sure about the sizing from what i read. i wear 37.5 in sportiva solution's and they fit snug. i got the 6.5's in these first and they were unbearable! the length felt good but they were far to narrow. So i ordered 7.5's and sent the 6.5's back figuring they would be better. the length was about the same and they were just a bit wider, but my heel didnt get the snuggness i needed. These were frustrating shoes to try to work with. I know they are awesome for a lot of people, they just werent right for me. I also tried jet 7's and came to the conclusion that five ten is unpridictable with sizing and trying them on in a gym IS A MUST before buying. I live in the UP in MI so it was hard to try them on before hand, but i would highly recommend either trying before you buy or buying several sizes and sending the one's back that dont work.

La Sportiva Solution Climbing Shoe

July 22, 2008

well that depends on if you are wearing the "right size in your mocassysm's. id probably try a 40.5 if i were you. i had a 6.5 in 5.10's and i wear a 36.5 in the solution's, so i would defiantly downsize, because they are a much more down turned aggressive shoe. keep in mind, they aren't going to stretch out much.
