Great jacket(s)

The North Face Amplitude Triclimate Jacket - Men's

The North Face Amplitude Triclimate Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 5, 2009

Overall, a wonderful jacket, but there are a few design flaws.

First off, the velcro on the sleeves of the outer shell makes the cuff fit and feel a bit awkward, but I got used to this after just a few wears.

The arm length on the insulated layer is a bit short (I'm 6'1" and purchased the XL) while the outer shell is just a hair too long.

The hood is quite massive, and I am glad it is removable. I only attach it when I know for sure I'll be out in wet weather.

When used in combination, the jacket is incredibly warm without being bulky, and the HUGE pit zips kept me from being too warm on long treks in snowfall.

The outer shell is also fantastic in the wind. I wore it around town on a recent trip to Chicago, and I could not have been more pleased with its performance.

Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase, and if North Face ever works out the minor kinks, I'd definitely buy another one.

Favorite pack.

GoLite Jam 2 Pack - 3000 cu in

GoLite Jam 2 Pack - 3000 cu in

Rating for this product: 5 June 19, 2008

This is the best pack I've ever bought and is my go to pack for everything from overnights to multi-day trips to Red River Gorge with some climbing gear.. It can carry a ton of weight if that's your thing, but with a typical base weight of about 8 lbs., I think it's perfect. It has all of the necessary aspects of a pack without the extra weight. Once you learn how to pack it, there is little need to own anything else.

I do wish the back pocket was made from a different material, maybe similar to the the stretchy, breathable material on the Osprey Aether. Nevertheless, for the price, this pack cannot be beat.

This is the best cookset I've ever owned. Extremely light without having to sacrifice any comforts. I'd recommend this to everyone.

Wonderful

Lafuma Warm'n Light 600 Sleeping Bag: 40 Degree Down

Lafuma Warm'n Light 600 Sleeping Bag: 40 Degree Down

Just got back from a last minute weekend at Red River Gorge, and I couldn't be happier with this bag. Wanted something light and warm, and this bag was the perfect fit. Even though our trip had a surprise rainstorm and got a bit cold out for this time of year, this bag was a champ. Packs up super small and is warmer than I expected.

I'm not a huge fan of the stuff sack, though.
