This isn't a question, but I was trying to figure out how these things worked and there's a video on the REI product page: http://www.rei.com/product/668290

best for wider folks

Marmot Mesita Shirt - Short Sleeve - Men's

Marmot Mesita Shirt - Short Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 August 23, 2009

Like most other reviewers have said, this shirt runs a little large. Not in length, just in width. For us lanky dudes it's not a problem if the shirt is worn on its own, but I won't be trying to layer it under anything. The fabric is not as smooth a surface as my other tech tees... it reminds me of those disposable covers they put on airplane pillows. Wicks, breathes, and gets the job done though.

Love em

Reef Wilbur Sandal - Men's

Reef Wilbur Sandal - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 21, 2009

I had to buy a duplicate pair of Wilburs when my first started to get worn out after about two years. They have a suede-y kind of footbed at first, but after a couple months of wear you're left with a nice smooth footbed. The strap is set rather far inside the arch of your foot, so it provides a bit of arch support that is rare among flip flops. This is a classic design from Reef so there's no situtation where they look out of place. Get on it.

Great shoe but what's with the shape?

Teva Aravalli Shoe - Men's

Teva Aravalli Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 May 2, 2009

No complaints about these shoes. The mesh breathes really well and the tread is nice and deep for scrambling over unkempt trails. Virtually zero time to break in. I'm taking away a star because they seem too wide in the toe box than usual. Just look at the picture of the sole and it's pretty obvious.

UPDATE-- about 30 miles on these shoes and both soles started to majorly split off. Major win for backcountry's return policy!

Good entry-level helmet

Pro-tec Mercenary Helmet

Pro-tec Mercenary Helmet

Rating for this product: 4 March 5, 2009

This helmet doesn't really have any adjustments, and instead of vents that open/close it comes with some little foam sheets that you stick into the vents. Pretty sure I already lost mine. Anyway, it's good at keeping a stable temperature and blocking the wind. If it fits you right out of the box then it's great. Otherwise you'll have to return it.

Not for fatties

Rossignol Zenith Pro Composite Boot

Rossignol Zenith Pro Composite Boot

Rating for this product: 4 February 23, 2009

This is a great boot for people with low-volume (narrow, skinny) feet like myself. It is rated at something like 100 flex but is actually pretty soft. The one complaint I have is that the shell can scratch the top and bottom of my foot getting in and out. It's a narrow boot so entry/exit is a bit of an ordeal.

Electric EG2 Goggle

yes, the mirror finish is only when viewed from the outside. look at the last picture in the bottom row and you can see that the lens has a rose tint when you are looking through it. that helps to increase contrast

Pretty good

Ahnu Bridge Shoe - Men's

Ahnu Bridge Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 January 4, 2009

I had high hopes for these shoes, needed something I could slip in and out of at work. Like another reviewer said, the back of the shoe is high and stiff, so it has been rubbing uncomfortably on my Achilles for the first week.

The weight and look are good, but my biggest complaint is that the footbed is basically a plastic foam, so if you try to wear them without socks it's sticky and your feet will start to sweat.

Goodbye canvas

Reef Magda Sandal - Men's

Reef Magda Sandal - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 4, 2009

I've gone through quite a few pairs of Reefs, and the sizing and comfort is about the same in all of them. These are great too. Just don't be surprised that the canvas starts coming off of these once you've worn them for a few months. The black sole starts showing through. Gives them a nice worn-in look if that's what you're looking for.

Anyone used this bag for air travel? I'm wondering how easily it will fit into an overhead bin.
