The North Face X Shot Backpack - 2200cu in

The North Face X Shot Backpack - 2200cu in

Rating for this product: 3 August 27, 2009

I give this pack a 3/5 star rating: 5/5 for looks and features, but 1/5 for the way the laptop pocket is implemented. a I bought this pack to carry my 16" Toshiba Satellite laptop, notebooks and binders for class, as well as for taking light overnight and weekend trips. The pack itself looks very good (I got Cardinal Red)and the airmesh back panel and straps are adjustable and comfortable. However, I would take the 17" laptop rating with a grain of salt - since the laptop pocket stops about 4" from the bottom of the pack, my widescreen laptop was too tall to fit comfortably inside (it's 15"x10.5"x1.5", andthe corners of the laptop barely fit into the top corners of the pack). I would downgrade the laptop size rating of this laptop to 15.4", unless you have a 17" that isn't widescreen, and I'm pretty sure most newer ones are. Everything else about the pack is great - great size, and the organizer panel is in a nice spot in the secondary compartment. The velour-lined pocket looks like a nice place to put your sunglasses or goggles.

However, the laptop thing is a deal-breaker for me, and so sadly this one's getting sent back.

Reef BYOB Sandal - Men's

April 28, 2009

Totally agree with this statement. These don't run small at all, unless you like to wear your sandals really big (which some people do). I wear a size 11 in almost all shoes and size 10 reef fits my feet perfectly, since I like a snugger fit and a footbed close to the size of my foot.

Great bottle

Klean Kanteen Water Bottle - 18oz

Klean Kanteen Water Bottle - 18oz

Rating for this product: 5 September 26, 2008

Bought the 18oz for my sister, I have the 27oz myself. Tough, lightweight, and just the right capacity. Works as advertised; there really aren't any smells that linger with the stainless steel. The only problem I have with it is that the design of the neck sometimes makes water splash out if you lift it too quickly when there isn't much water inside, but that's really more my fault. Again, great bottle(s), would buy more.

Pretty good tape

Prologo PlainTouch Bar Tape

Prologo PlainTouch Bar Tape

Rating for this product: 4 September 16, 2008

Got this from Chainlove. It's a nice-feeling tape, squishy and smooth, not with a rougher texture like Cinelli cork tape. For $16 plus shipping I wouldn't buy it, but at the $6 that I got it for, it was a great deal. It's very easy to install - the description says "true cork," but I would describe it more like a cork-infused stretchy foam. You can back this up and stretch it to get a nice tight fit on your bars and it'll do it, unlike some tape that wrinkles or tears when you pull too hard. Overall a 4/5, good tape for $6, but wouldn't buy it at $15.

Fits VERY small

Sugoi Pulsar Cycling Bib Short - Men's

Sugoi Pulsar Cycling Bib Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 August 30, 2008

I'm 5'11" 155 and I ordered a size M after looking at the sizing chart. Seemed to be the perfect size, I am a 31 waist, 39 chest, 32 inseam. I got these in the mail and could hardly fit the waistband over my ass. I figured, okay it's just a less-stretchy waist area, it's okay. Then I tried to get the bib straps up over my shoulders. No go. The M is probably good for someone about five inches shorter than me and maybe 30 lbs lighter. Other than that, the chamois looked like it would be comfortable had I been able to put them on and actually go for a ride in them, and the lycra is good-quality, as are the leg grippers, which actually work. However I'll be returning these, maybe for a large or even X-large.
