Patagonia Half Mass Bag - 1709cu in

March 31, 2011

I take it everyday riding my bike to work (~ 15 min each way), and even though it is not truly waterproof I have never seen the inside damp even when it is pouring outside, and I feel like it could handle the rain longer. On the other side I wouldn't trust the front pocket, but again, I haven't seen it wet so far.

Love this lamp

Petzl Tikka XP 2 Headlamp

Petzl Tikka XP 2 Headlamp

Rating for this product: 5 August 26, 2010

This lamp is just great. The red beam is perfect in the tent, and the white one is plenty bright (at least compared to my old BD one). I haven't tested it's waterproofness but otherwise it's pretty light and feels solid. Maybe a bit expensive but you definitely get what you pay for.

Petzl Verso Belay Device

Petzl Verso Belay Device

Simple yet perfect belay device. However IMHO just go with the reverso 3 instead. It might be a tad heavier but is so versatile!!!

I don't have much to add from other reviews, except that unlike mentioned below, I find the groves very useful yet not digging into the rope.

Nice but basic bag

Mammut Rope Bag Pro

Mammut Rope Bag Pro

Rating for this product: 4 May 6, 2010

This bag is pretty nice, it easily hold a 70 m rope, has a huge tarp you can use to keep your climbing shoes clean too. The only gripe I have is that it doesn't have any pockets on the side to slide a book for instance (true to description though, I was warned!).

It's cool bag that does the job for a decent price.

efficient stove

Primus EtaPower EF Trail Stove

Primus EtaPower EF Trail Stove

Rating for this product: 5 July 23, 2009

This lightweight stove is perfect for backpacking trips, it boils very quickly with regular fuel even above 11.000 ft. And you can fit a gas canister as well as some utensils in the bag that comes with it.

a vital piece of equipement

Laken Flask Kukuxumusu Stainless Steel Flask

Laken Flask Kukuxumusu Stainless Steel Flask

Rating for this product: 5 July 23, 2009

Your buddies/boyfriend/girlfriend will never thank you enough for sharing some booze at the top with this awesome flask. Really cool design, very good content!
It is however hard to avoid spilling some if like me you do a quick and dirty transfer from a glass bottle on the trailhead parking lot.

Keeps WARM!

GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Vacuum Bottles

GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Vacuum Bottles

Rating for this product: 5 July 23, 2009

Keeps your coffee or tea real warm after a day hitting the slopes, almost too warm actually. I usually leave the liquid cool down a bit before closing it. Haven't seen the construction issue other reviewers are experiencing.

very good deal

ALPS Mountaineering Navajo Sleeping Bag: 20F Degree Down

ALPS Mountaineering Navajo Sleeping Bag: 20F Degree Down

Rating for this product: 4 July 23, 2009

For the reasonable price it's a very nice bag, light, packs small, and fairly warm. I have doubts about the 20F rating but I took it quite high in Colorado in late May, and I was very warm even with the hail/snow outside. A inner liner definitely helps.

Very good backcountry boots

Burton Driver X Snowboard Boot - Men's

Burton Driver X Snowboard Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 July 23, 2009

Just as the other reviewers said, they are very stiff, pretty easy to tighten (putting them on is another story though, almost harder to do than for alpine skiing boots). They fit true to size in my opinion, at least compared to other burtons, and are nicely shaped so that my toes don't stick out to much even for my big feet. The Vibram sole is definitely a plus when you need to hike to the summit. Haven't been wearing them that much yet but they seem durable.
