  • Stomping Grounds:

West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Utah, Vermont, New York
  • Bio:

Originally from the mountains of NEPA, I am currently residing in Philadelphia. I have been in the outdoors since I was a child and the mountains have always been a sanctuary for me. Snowboarding has comprised nearly the better half of my life for over 14 seasons and I try to make 1 or 2 west trips a year. I am a closet top roper and boulderer and try get on the mountain bike as often as I can -- but the hustle and flow of the city life only leaves me to be a weekend warrior. Fishing and canoeing are my greatest therapies; primarily lakes and ponds in NEPA.

Sub-par for HH

Helly Hansen Zeta CIS Jacket - Men's

Helly Hansen Zeta CIS Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 June 4, 2009

I had high expectations for this jacket and simply put, this is not a high quality jacket. Two buttons popped off before I even zippered up for the first time. The cuffs had material frays and the inner shell was super thin and just a bit too small. Most HH products jackets are above average -- but this one just doesn't cut it. Luckily, backcountry.com swapped this no problem!

Great mt biking shoe

Salomon SpeedCross 2 Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Salomon SpeedCross 2 Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 27, 2009

This shoe has all the promising features of a good Salomon trail shoe; traction, light, comfy, style, etc. I use these for clipless mt biking and these are unmatched -- an insane amount of grip when needed. Though if you do decide to use these for riding, please consider tucking the laces in as even Kevlar can shred under the right circumstance. I wouldn't say these are geared entirely for cold weather because of the mesh on top of the foot is not water proof in the least bit -- which can result in a cold foot after walking through some snow.

I swear by Dragon

Dragon Mace Goggle

Dragon Mace Goggle

Rating for this product: 5 May 11, 2009

The Dragon Mace Goggle are my 3rd goggles from Dragon and the Mace is truly one of the best for your buck. Rode with these for two season and only minor scratches on the lens. This goggle is hard to fog up and the extra lens holder in the goggle bag is key -- not to mention how easy lens replacements are.
