Skullcandy Asym Earbud Headphone

Skullcandy Asym Earbud Headphone

Rating for this product: 3 July 7, 2009

I tried these out side by side with the 11mm FMJs, the 10mm Nixon wires and the 8mm Nixon wires.

Out of the four sets of buds, these had the least feedback from the cord moving around, and I liked the fit of these the best. They're designed to have the cord go over your ear. They look lame but fit nicely.

The cord doesn't have the same coating as the FMJs, it's more pliable and better in my opinion. These boast a 13mm driver, but the sound isn't as clear as the FMJs. The lows aren't anywhere as good as the FMJs, the mids are really muddy, and the highs are forgettable.

Out of the four the asym's are the only ones I even considered keeping. If you've got medium-low standards for headphones and don't mind the dorky fit, they might work for you. Otherwise, save up for something better.

Okay, if you like random static with your music

Skullcandy Full Metal Jacket Bud Headphones

Skullcandy Full Metal Jacket Bud Headphones

Rating for this product: 2 July 7, 2009

I picked these up on Brociety for less than $40 with shipping. They're going back.

Just sitting at my desk typing, these headphones (the 11mm) were okay. The sound was mediocre, good bass, okay highs and muddy mids. I can deal with that for $40 headphones.

What I can't deal with is the random static noise that I got. I could be sitting completely still and they'd crackle. I'd try moving them around and they wouldn't crackle. I gave them an 8 hour work day and they crackled about every other song.

Save your money for something better.

Absolute poo.

Nixon Wire 8mm Headphone

Nixon Wire 8mm Headphone

Rating for this product: 1 July 7, 2009

Nixon made some great looking headphones, but I don't think they listened to them before they boxed them up. These things suck.

The fit is good. I heard some people complaining about the headphones being to heavy, but I didn't find that to be a problem. They stayed in my ear just fine.

The sound was pretty decent until I moved. The feedback from the cord brushing up against anything is absolutely horrendous, and LOUD. I'd use the stock apple buds before these. I hate the apple buds.

These are going back.
