Bio:
I run. A lot. I avoid road running like the plague and try to get my miles in on trails. When I'm not running, I hike and backpack. I started snowboarding again this year. I've hiked and backpacked a lot in the Midwest and now I'm starting on the peaks and trails in Maine. Next on my list is ice climbing and winter mountaineering.

Mountain Hardwear Beryllium Jacket - Men's
January 1, 2009
I'd go with a medium. Check the sizing chart though. Mediums fit 39-41" chest and a 34" sleeve.
Awesome
The North Face Impulse 1/2 Zip Hooded Pullover - Long Sleeve - Men's
December 18, 2008
Great baselayer. I use it alone for cold runs and it's perfect. The zip neck dumps heat and you can unzip the shoulder pocket to add a little extra venting. It wicks really well and blocks wind pretty well. The thumb slits in the cuff are great for keeping it in place wile layering or just keeping your hands a little bit warmer. Fit: I'm 5'9" 140 lbs and a medium fits perfectly.

Mountain Hardwear Microgrid Fleece Zip T - Long-Sleeve - Men's
December 10, 2008
On their fleeces and jackets it's usually embroidered, but some baselayers have a lightweight plasticy one. This is most likely embroidery though.
-------------
Disagree, I think this one is probably a decal, MH has been moving towards them. It's not the TNF logo, that's what goes on North Face gear.
--------------
This Mountain Hardwear nut is embroidered. We also have reflective 'Nuts' that we laminate on some things... but most are embroidered. Definitely not "plastic-y"
Answer to: "Is the hood on this jacket removable? "
The North Face Odyssey Soft Shell Jacket - Men's
December 10, 2008
Yes, it has a removable hood.
Answer to: "Is this the hybrid jacket?"
The North Face Momentum Fleece Jacket - Men's
December 10, 2008
I'm gonna say no, because the jacket is 100% TKA fleece. If you want a hybrid, check softshells.

The North Face Apex Pneumatic Jacket - Men's
December 10, 2008
The Bionic is fleece lined. The Pneumatic is lighter, possibly stretchier. Really, this is for high output activities or spring/summer use while the Bionic is for colder stuff.
Answer to: "what do you think about this jacket"
Burton Poacher Jacket - Men's
December 10, 2008
Looks sick. Some pretty sweet graphics on some versions and some classy, monochrome schemes. The waterproofing and breathability ratings are kinda low, but 5k should be enough for mellow stuff. Read the reviews to get a better picture.
Answer to: "wool blend? What is it"
Backcountry.com Wool Hooded Jacket - Men's
December 10, 2008
It's wool that's been woven and blended with other stuff (probably polyester or something). The wool is on the outside and the inside is fleece. It looks less technical than traditional jackets as you can see the weave of the wool and the fleece is hidden on the interior.
Answer to: "This jacket's description doesn't say if there is a hem drawcord...."
Columbia Single Track Softshell Jacket - Men's
December 10, 2008
I saw it in a store today. It does have a drawcord at the bottom. It's also pretty comfy. I almost bought it, but I can't decide between it and another coat.
Also, chekc out the WIld Card Insulated Softshell from Columbia;s Titanium line. That is one of our top selling pieces and is my favorite year-round piece. I can wear it on the hill or around town be be completely comfortable.
Answer to: "I am about 5ft.7in and 165lb.my waist is 34.5in,chest is 39in...."
Backcountry.com Rime Pullover Jacket - Men's
December 9, 2008
I'm 5'7 and 160# with 32" waist and wide shoulders and I ordered a large. The sleeves are way too long and it fits a tad loose. But, if I wear anything under it bigger than a tee shirt, like a thick base layer, I need the extra room. So, with a base layer, a large is a good fit for the bike commute or winter trail run. If you just wear a tee under it, then a medium is good.
Answer to: "is this coat very warm? can I return it if my teenagers do not..."
The North Face Denali Fleece Jacket - Men's
December 9, 2008
The coat is quite warm, good down to freezing temps, and you can indeed return it anytime.
If your kids are "anti-establishment" minded, they will most likely want to return it as the Denali is the most common fleece in high school and college kids.

686 Acc Syndicate Insulated Jacket - Men's
December 9, 2008
Medium. I'm 5'9" and 140 and smalls are too short. If you're worried about stuff being too baggy, look for jackets with an athletic cut.

Patagonia Micro Puff Hooded Jacket - Men's
December 9, 2008
You'll need to check the measurements in the sizing chart.
Generally, someone who's 6ft and of "average" build would fit a large and XL for a bit more room.
There are "tall" sizes when it comes to Patagonia outerwear!
Answer to: "Looking for a new ski jacket for winter skiing in California...."
Arc'teryx Gamma SV Hooded Jacket - Men's
December 9, 2008
Arc'T makes good stuff and this is no exception. This would probably be fine for you so long as you're working and not standing around a ton.
I skied a bunch of days in an Arc jacket very similar to this and it worked great. You'll be surprised how good it is when the weather turns foul, too.
Honestly, for skiing, you should go with either the Fury SV or the MHW Kramer. Both are going to suit your needs better than this jacket. Although cut long, its just not long enough to be a ski jacket.

Depends on where you live, DL. If you're in the in the northern half of the country, then you definitely need more than this, but if you're in the south, you'll be fine.

The North Face Redpoint Insulated Jacket - Men's
December 7, 2008
It's warm enough, but I can't comment on its windproofing. ----- "I like the weight and cut of this jacket. The fit is good (I'm 6'1" and 168 lbs.) The Primaloft does a great job of keeping me warm down to about 10-15 degrees with moderate layers. If you're going to be out for a long time in this jacket and it's 15 degrees or below, you'd better layer up." -Tom in Madison
Answer to: "I have a Giro helmet. Will the Hood fit over the helmet?"
Burton 3L Hybrid Jacket
December 3, 2008
I previously owned this jacket and a giro helmet. The hood did not fit over the helmet when the jacket was zipped up.
Answer to: "Where can I find the vest with zip off long sleeves?"
Mountain Hardwear Windstopper Tech Vest - Men's
December 2, 2008
I don't know, but you can buy a vest and some sleeves here. You can buy the MH Tech Vest and the Pearl Izumi Woolie Arm Warmers. Pearl Izumi used to make a nylon biking jacket that had zip off long sleeves.

Cosmo
Black Diamond Cosmo Headlamp
November 26, 2008
Came with the wrong color strap, but BC is forgiven for that one. Great light with enough power for night runs and gets dim enough for reading. I like that it's easy to unclip from the strap.

Pretty Sweet
Spy Zed Goggles w/Free Extra Lens
November 23, 2008
The Zed is a pretty good goggle. Picked up a pair of white ones w/ gold mirror on WhiskeyMilitia. They are definitely more of a small/medium than a medium fit. Also, the strap is pretty short and just barely fits around the outside of my Baker helmet. That being said, they do look awesome and the metal inserts add some flavor. The silicon strip on the inside of the strap keeps it from sliding on helmets or hats. The venting is great and the microfleece backing feels great on my face. An all around good goggle for the money but just a bit small.

Answer to: "Does this jacket have plastic or metal zippers?"
Burton Hybrid Jacket - Men's
November 21, 2008
Plastic teeth with metal pull tabs. The main zipper looks pretty burly, and one of the chest pockets and both hand pockets have waterproof zippers.
