  • Stomping Grounds:

Florida, Climbing spots all over the Southeast
  • Bio:

Its hard to be into outdoor climbing living in Orlando so I am often in the car driving 10+ hours to some place to climb or planning the next trip. Love the outdoors and do anything and everything from camping, to mountain biking, to scuba diving, but climbing being my all time favorite. I'm at about a v6 level on the boulders and 5.12 on a good day when you catch me in a harness. Not the strongest but I think it decent for living somewhere with only plastic, indoor rocks! I'm a relatively poor college student who spends a lot of his money on this site! I've even sold textbooks to buy gear!

Black Diamond Momentum Harness

March 26, 2009

While good for climbing and belaying I would say it does well on some crag naps.

prAna Sonora Pant - Men's

March 24, 2009

Here are the Sonora's grinding up against some sharp rock on Hammerhead at HP40. Didn't ride up in the crotch with that high left foot either. I think I wore them on a date after this trip. I may not have even washed them for it...

Black Diamond FreeWire Quickdraw

March 24, 2009

Here are the FreeWires mixed in with a few other older Metolius ones. The FreeWires are super light in comparison. Even though I don't have enough on to really notice any difference in weight.

Five Ten VMile Climbing Shoe

March 24, 2009

I had these with me at Rocktown and were fine even though they are listed as a trad shoe. I've really but a beating on my pair. This picture is when they were still pretty new.

Toe hook setting up for a throw to a nasty little pocket on Hammerhead at HP 40. Face isn't in the picture but its the best shot I have of the shoe. I promise it's me.

Five Ten Anasazi VCS Climbing Shoe

March 27, 2009

Probably. Since they are comparable models within the same brand I'm sure the sizing is pretty close. If the 8.5 were too tight then yea definitely go up. Although finding a local vendor that has them would be good so you can actually try them on. Anasazis are found almost everywhere. Try them out in person if you can then come back online and get a better deal!

Scarpa SL M3 Backpacking Boots - Men's

March 27, 2009

Well I know Scarpa is an Italian brand but I'm not sure if they outsource their manufacturing like a lot of other industries. I would bet either Italy or the US.

CamelBak Hydrobak Hydration Pack

March 27, 2009

To be honest I would most likely just run some clean water through it if there is nothing built up in it. If you have some buildup maybe let some white vinegar sit in there for a few minutes and then rinse it all out. Or bleach. Either way just rinse it out reallllly good so you don't get that awful taste!

or if you want to spend money. go for this cleaning kit. http://www.backcountry.com/store/CAM0239/CamelBak-Hydration-Pack-Cleaning-Kit.html

Black Diamond Forearm Trainer

I saw on the other site given by Matthew the resistance weight on the three in the set but they are all different colors. Does anyone know about what it is for this blue one? or at how hard it is?

The North Face Apex Bionic Jacket - Men's

March 26, 2009

My roommate bought this one recently and I thought it was a 2009 but I guess not. It has the wrist velcro. Looking carefully at the ones with the white zipper strings it looks like they are smaller at the cuff like maybe they are a little elastic but the north face website lists velcro adjustable cuffs next to these same pictures. Maybe it's on the back this year?

Powerful, versatile, eats batteries

Petzl DUO LED 5 Headlamp

Petzl DUO LED 5 Headlamp

Rating for this product: 4 March 26, 2009

The halogen bulb on this thing is pretty sweet for lighting something in the distance and the 5 LEDs can make it seem like nearly daylight in your immediate surroundings. My roommate got one and I borrowed it on a remote bouldering trip and I wish I could afford one. It seems heavy but it isn't bad at all one you got it on your head. Luckily it uses AAs too because he says it didn't last as long as he had hoped. Also he claims the case is waterproof but I'm not about to jump in the river with it on quite yet.

first harness

Black Diamond Momentum Harness

Black Diamond Momentum Harness

Rating for this product: 4 March 26, 2009

This was the first harness I ever purchased and I really can't complain even 2 years later. Its light, sized well, comfortable, and good gear loops. I really like the little piece of velcro on the front so I can keep it on my hits while I tighten it up. Great value for the price. I don't see why people buy more expensive ones after how well this one has treated me!

Awesome, super tight

Evolv Optimus Prime Climbing Shoe

Evolv Optimus Prime Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 5 March 25, 2009

This was the first shoe I ever bought by evolve... and they are awesome!!! The downturn is just enough, the heel is pretty close to perfect, the trax rubber has stuck to nearly everything so far, and the rubber on the top has even helped keep them from getting torn up on some toe hooks! Watch out when ordering, they run very small. All my other climbing shoes are 44 and 1/2 while these are 45 and they fit wayyyy tighter than the other pairs. I recommend a half size up from your normal climbing shoe. Despite being tight they are actually really comfortable. Nice job Sharma! maybe give up climbing and just design shoes! haha

La Sportiva Exum Ridge Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 23, 2009

I recently bought these shoes and love every second in them. They fit pretty true to my street shoe size. They are comfy and I can still use them for everything. I work at a rock gym and I can also use them for route setting and maintenance too. They look pretty sweet too. Functional and sweetly designed!

A good light daypack

The North Face Gulper Hydration Pack

The North Face Gulper Hydration Pack

Rating for this product: 4 March 23, 2009

Pretty sweet hydration pack. I wear it hiking between crags. I can fit my harness inside the big pouch with a few snacks and clip my shoes and chalk bag to different places on the outside. LOOVE the little magnet on the hose to keep it where I can get to it. However, the bite valve has recently split open due to lots of use. The water stays cold and I can even feel it cooling me off on my back.

These things rock!

Black Diamond FreeWire Quickdraw

Black Diamond FreeWire Quickdraw

Rating for this product: 5 March 23, 2009

Got a few of these at Miguel's in the red as replacements and quickly ordered a set of 8 from here. They are light and verrry easy to clip. The rubber sleeve on the clipping beaner helps out a lot too. The only thing is that they can be tricky if you are using a Squid to stick clip but it is still doable if you are careful.

Trad shoe? not necessarily

Five Ten VMile Climbing Shoe

Five Ten VMile Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 5 March 23, 2009

I got these by mistake but ended up loving them. They are listed as a trad shoe but I have bouldered with them outdoors up to v6 with no real issues. They stretched on me slightly so I would recommend getting a little bit smaller but not much. Also they have made for some great shoes to train indoors in.

Kavu Chilli Lite Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 March 23, 2009

Got these from a deal on SAC. I am pretty tall and slim and the mediums were wayyy up my thighs. They look cool, have sweet pockets, and fit in the crouch pretty well but I wouldn't recommend them for those tall skinny boys with some tan line issues.

KEEN Lisbon Distressed Leather Shoe - Men's

KEEN Lisbon Distressed Leather Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 23, 2009

They are very stylish and work well for me around the office, but I have had these on for some light hikes and some warmups at the local climbing gym and they did not do well for me. Even with socks on they caused me some serious foot sweat and that prevented me from wearing around the office for a few days. Definitely a nice looking shoe that I love to wear in certain situations though!

Mountain Hardwear Chausey Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 23, 2009

I like the style, material, and the snap button aren't so bad but I feel like the underarm comes up a little high on me. Felt like after one wash the torso part shrunk slightly but the sleeves stayed kind of baggy.

Thermometer is ehhh

Origo Granite Peak Series Altimeter Watch

Origo Granite Peak Series Altimeter Watch

Rating for this product: 4 March 23, 2009

I like this watch a lot. It isn't as big as what I thought a watch with so many features would be! The thermometer is only accurate when you aren't wearing it for about 10 minutes though. It always is affected by my body head on my wrist and can be more than 10 degrees off because of that. Can't wait to take it scuba diving and test out the water resistance!

Backcountry.com Goat Not Cotton T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 28, 2008

I love this shirt and wear this shirt all the time. And even though I expect it to fade, the goat logo faded to where it was nearly impossible to see even after the first wash. Hard to represent the brand if no one can see the goat.
