Lenses easily scratched

Oakley Fives Squared Sunglasses - Polarized

Oakley Fives Squared Sunglasses - Polarized

Rating for this product: 2 July 25, 2011

I am on my second Pair of Oakley fives, the lenses on the first pair got scratched pretty bad in the first 6 months, I lived with the scratches for another 6 months. I eventually broke down and bought a new pair, this time I took great care of the glasses and they still managed to get some scratches on the lenses after about 3 months. I spoke with Oakley and they said I was SOL. I really liked the way these glasses fit my face, except for the fact that they wouldn't stay on top of my head. I'm going to try the Spy Dirty Mo's next

Awesome rope end quickdraw biner

Black Diamond LiveWire Carabiner

Black Diamond LiveWire Carabiner

Rating for this product: 5 April 6, 2009

I love this biner, I have last years version on the rope end of my quickdraws. I paired them up with Petzl Spirits and Petzl's dogbones. These things are super easy to clip, smooth action. They are big enough to stabilize the biner with you middle finger, then clip the rope through with your thumb and pointer and never have to worry about you middle finger getting in the way of the gate or rope. There is also a little ridge on the spin which helps when pinching the rope into the biner and it looks like they added some grip on the spine to help even more (that's a change from last year). This year they changed some of the strengths, the open gate used to be 9 kn and is now 8 and the minor axis in now 8kn and used to be 7, take that for what it is, i think i would rather have the higher open gate strength then more minor axis strength.

Solid Locking Biner

Simond Spider HMS + BLC

Simond Spider HMS + BLC

Rating for this product: 4 January 19, 2009

I like it, I use it on the end of my Metolious PAS I keep the end loop of the PAS inside of the rope keeper and then put all of the loops in the biner but outside of the rope keeper. when it comes time to clip in at the end of a sport climb I drop all of the other loops, clip the biner in and adjust my slack, works great.

Essential sport draw sling

Petzl Express Quickdraw Sling

Petzl Express Quickdraw Sling

Rating for this product: 5 January 19, 2009

Theses slings are great I use them with a combination of the petzl spirit for the bolt end and the black diamond livewire biner for my quickdraws. The thick nylon keep the draws from twisting and the rubber protector on the rope end of the sling not only keeps the biner in place but protects the sling from rubbing against the rock.

CamelBak Better Bottle w/ Bite Valve - 1L

Rating for this product: 3 January 19, 2009

I used to have just the screw top and i decided to upgrade to the bite valve version of the bottle. it's a nice bottle and the bite valve works well, my only complaint is that i can't get enough water through the valve when I'm trying to guzzle some down.

Dissapointed

Simond Spider Rocky Fil Quickdraw

Simond Spider Rocky Fil Quickdraw

Rating for this product: 2 January 19, 2009

I ordered these biners because I really like the nose design on the bolt end biner. I received then and noticed that the rope end biner was really wimpy I then did a little more research and found out that the rope end biener is only rated to 7kn, I read somewhere that the typical sport lead fall ranges between 2-5kn, I wasn't okay with the 7kn rating.

Alright Chalk

Metolius Super Chalk Sock

Metolius Super Chalk Sock

Rating for this product: 3 December 8, 2008

The Metolious chalk never seems to stick to my hands well. It is cheap though, it gets the job done but if you are like me you might need to chalk up a few extra times to keep your hands dry.

Simond Spider Rocky Fil Quickdraw

December 5, 2008

Has anyone used these, do you like them? They look like they would be great for sport climbing, it looks like the straight nose would make it really easy to clip the bolts.

Rating for this product: 5 November 29, 2008

I love this coat and I love the zip out soft shell just as much, both are very warm, my only complaint is that the side hand pockets are really high up it's uncomfortable to walk around with your hands in your pocket.

Blew the toe out in no time

Evolv Defy Climbing Shoe- 2009

Evolv Defy Climbing Shoe- 2009

Rating for this product: 2 November 29, 2008

These were the first climbing shoes I owned, the rubber was sticky and they edged okay. My biggest problem was that I developed a hole in the toe within the first 4 months granted I had a problem with dragging my toes up the wall (that problem has since been resolved), but I still think they could make the toe more durable.

Good alternative to regular chalk

Metolius Super Chalk Eco Ball

Metolius Super Chalk Eco Ball

Rating for this product: 4 November 28, 2008

This stuff is great for climbing in areas with strict no chalk rules. It doesn't seem to keep your hands as dry as black diamond's chalk but it works well enough.

La Sportiva Mantis Climbing Shoe

La Sportiva Mantis Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 2 November 9, 2008

I bought these as spares to use while I get my other shoes resoled. They have a thick tongue which is cushy and comfortable but there is a seam that sticks out inside of the shoe where the tongue meeds the rest of the shoe that digs into my little toe,it drives me nuts, the top of the heel also digs into my Achilles. They aren't very sensitive, maybe I'm not used to them yet I don't know, I just can't wait for my pontas'es to get back
