Berghaus Chulu Hybrid Insulated Jacket - Men's

Berghaus Chulu Hybrid Insulated Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 27, 2011

I was looking for an insulated jacket that was not down. Most down jackets are too puffy and Michelin man like for me. I choose this one because on the picture the outer material looks thicker. More like a soft shell. That is what I wanted. Well, It’s not quite like a soft shell. It’s thicker than most down jacks I’ve looked at. Wore it out last weekend for a friend’s bachelor party in downtown Minneapolis. With temps around 0 with a wind chill well into negative degrees. I was impressed how warm I was with this jacket. It is on the light side. Was very comftorble waking from bar to bar and waiting outside. Would not want to be out in these temps all day without something heavier.
Taken the dog for a few walks with it with temps in the single digits. With a base layer under it and a shell over it. Have been nice and toasty. Have not had much of a chance to try it in the field besides that. Overall, I am impressed. I believe I will keep it.

By the way, I am 6’3” and 225 with a longer torso. The XL fits me like a glove.

Slim fit and good length

The North Face Momentum Jacket - Men's

The North Face Momentum Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 8, 2008

I have two of these now and I love them. I am 6'3" 210 pounds with a 21" torso and the large fits me like a glove. There is plenty of sleeve length and I feel waist length as well. It is cut tight at the waist with it slightly longer in the back but I have not found it to be a problem. Very warm and blocks the wind as well. Exchanged for a L mountain light jack and it zips in great. Only minor grip is the jacket itself is so light that it makes the zipper feel heavy. If TNF would make it in a 1/4 zip, that would be awesome, not a really big deal though. Great warmth for the weight, can't wait to use it hiking.

Decent

The North Face WindWall Glove

The North Face WindWall Glove

Rating for this product: 3 March 25, 2008

I use these when I go running in the 20 to 30 degree range, which in MN is often. They keep the wind and cold out but at temps much below this your going to need something heavier. Water does not come thru easily but the outside soaks it up pretty good. I would NOT use these for skiing.

The North Face Mountain Light Jacket - Men's

March 20, 2008

No, the mesh liner does not zip out. You can zip in other, lighter jackets from North face in to this jacket. I'm not sure the difference between the mountain light and Mountain guide.

I have a XL mountain lite TNF jacket. Would a large Momentum jacket still zip in?
