How well will the hood adjust to non helmet use? I don't have a big head and won't hike with or snowshoe with a helmet. Also how low are the hand pockets? I like higher pockets as I always use a pack. Thanks for any info..

Where are the "alpine" pockets on this jacket? By your pectorals? Is the hood on this jacket helmet size or head size? I won't be using a helmet and don't want a gi-hugic hood. Any help on this will be appreciated.

I'm considering this jacket for snowshoeing/fall winter hiking. Is the hood made for helmet use? I want a jacket that fits my head well, not a helmet. Any info on this would be helpful or other similar jackets that have a non huge hood. Thanks.

Columbia Single Track Softshell Jacket - Men's

This jacket's description doesn't say if there is a hem drawcord. Anyone know if they forgot to list it... or there really is no way to keep cold air from sneaking in. Considering this jacket for cold weather hiking, snowshoeing. Don't want a hood big enough for king kongs head, just mine. Any other jacket recommendations would be appreciated as well.

Jackson jacket review

Spyder Jackson Soft Shell Jacket - Men's

I purchased this jacket as an all around water/wind resistant cool weather jacket. The fabric and fit were pleasing and I liked the water resistant zippers. The hood however left a few things to be desired. The drawcords for the hood were set back from the edge of the hood an inch or so making for a bonnet-like apprearance when drawn tight. The rubber drawcord keepers wouldn't keep from loosening when you lifted your head up. I don't downhill ski but wonder if this hood would work better with a helmet. I returned the jacket for the problems with the hood. If you purchase this jacket you might consider your sample of this jacket and the hood issues. Backcountry did make my return easy and for mail order I would definitely shop them again.
