Sleeping Bag Separator

Sleeping Bag Separator

JanSport Klamath 75 Backpack - 4600cu in

June 7, 2010

I like to have a zip separator between my sleeping back compartment and the main area in my pack to help keep everything in place when I take the bag out at night. This nag has an alternative that seems good so far, though I haven't tried it through a full trip yet. The separator is sown into the wall on one side, and has two connection points on the opposite side. I'm pointing to one of the loops in the photo. Also worth noting, is that I weighed the pack when it was new with tags, and it was just shy of 4 lbs even.

JanSport Klamath 75 Backpack - 4600cu in

This shows the adjustable section on the upper portion of the pack, where the shoulder straps are secured. I angled the straps outward to show detail, but they hang normally when in use. It's easy to adjust the tabs, and I don't think they would slip during normal use.

Visor Depth

Visor Depth

Outdoor Research Radar Pocket Cap

June 7, 2010

I recently bought this hat and like it a lot. It's much better suited to a day on the trail than your average baseball hat, since it absorbs a ton of sweat and still looks good. The one thing I was surprised about, though, was that the visor only extends 2 and 1/8 inches from the head. This depth works nicely for collapsing the hat and packing it, but I would have preferred a little more sun cover.

Great starter draws

Black Diamond PosiWire Quickpack

Black Diamond PosiWire Quickpack

Rating for this product: 5 May 18, 2012

Got a pack of these draws last year when I first started lead climbing. Price was affordable and I've been very happy with them. I've added some other draws on top of these to give me more options in terms of length, but usually just stick with these since they have lots of space to clip with and have a good feel.

Lots of Room

Evolv K Lace Climbing Shoe

Evolv K Lace Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 3 April 29, 2012

I wore these out twice and then sent em back. I got my normal climbing shoe size, after reading the conflicted reviews on this page, and found that size to be about a half size to big. I found the sole to be reasonably gripy outdoors, and somewhat lackluster for smearing in the gym. My biggest complaint was on all the extra room in the toe box. I felt like I had a lot more room there than was necessary, and I found it interfered with my edging big time.

DAKINE Border Pullover Hooded Sweatshirt - Men's

DAKINE Border Pullover Hooded Sweatshirt - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 19, 2012

I like wearing this when I travel because it gives me options than a normal hoodie. I agree that the main zipper is kinda big, but it vents well. I like the chest pocket for my wallet, and it's pretty comfy overall. I do think it weighs a bit much and feels bulky when I try to pack it, but I've also gotten some compliments on it, so it's still going strong.

My go to gloves

Burton Power Stretch Liner - Men's

Burton Power Stretch Liner - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 19, 2012

I really like these gloves. The grip makes em good for driving, they looks cool for hanging around town, and I use em for my base layer under mitts when I'm snowboarding. I had a pair of these from 3-4 years ago and the cut has definitely changed - shorter cuff and thicker material. I did size up one level for these after reading the reviews on here, and that was the right move for me. I think these are well worth it for the price!

Looks Great, Feels Good Too

Bern Macon Hard Hat with Knit Liner

Bern Macon Hard Hat with Knit Liner

Rating for this product: 5 January 10, 2012

I got this hard hat 2 seasons ago, and I really like it. It's worked well through all the little and medium dives I've taken, and it doesn't look tremendous/ridiculous like some of the other helmets out there. A couple things that drew me to this model were the knit liner (easy to wash since it's removable - nice touch), the built in visor (looks cool), the nice amount of side/top vents, and the fit of the helmet (nice and snug for my head).

Love wearing this jacket around town

Stoic Monolith Softshell Jacket - Men's

Stoic Monolith Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 September 8, 2011

I bought this jacket at the end of last winter to be my mid-weight all conditions jacket, and to use as a shell for ice climbing. The coldest weather I’ve worn it in so far was mid 50’s with a steady downpour, and I was very comfortable (and dry!) with just a t-shirt underneath. I’ve found that I really enjoy wearing this jacket out in town because it looks so slick (no stitching is really smooth) and I’ve gotten compliments on the Kiln color. I’m 5'9", 160 lbs, and the medium was the right choice for me. The length is just below my waist, sleeves are 1-2 inches longer than I'd like (probably great for climbing though), and I really like that the collar looks good both folded down or sticking up to block the wind. The material is a little stiff, which I’m cool with, and the inside lining is a soft.

Stoic Breathe 90 T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Mens

Stoic Breathe 90 T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Mens

Rating for this product: 3 May 23, 2011

I recently got this in a small, and it was too close fitting for my liking. I'm 5'9", 160lbs, 38" chest. I got the small after reading from some others that this shirt was too baggy. I should have got the medium, though I think the sleeves would still fit weird. I returned the shirt but didn't get another because I ordered the 'Silver/Denim Horizon' style and found the fabric in this color to be too shear. I can only imagine how see-through it would be when I start sweating it up! The fabric did have a nice smooth feel, as others expressed, but overall this shirt was not what I was expecting.

Hestra Army Leather Gore-Tex XCR Glove

February 9, 2011

Some gloves that are designed for skiing or similar activities have a small rubber piece that acts like a squeegee to clear your goggles. Some also have a small pad usually on the top side of the gloves for you to wipe your nose on, since most people get runny noses in winter sports. These gloves have neither feature.

Sessions Brawl Pant - Men's

Sessions Brawl Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 6, 2011

I got these pants recently but found that they were just too tight for my liking - I got the small and I'm about a 31-30 for pants. They seemed to be good quality, had great leg vents and I thought the length of the gaiters was pretty generous. I didn't really care for the drawstring in the waist, which I would have removed and just gone with a belt if needed.

Oakley XS O-Frame Goggle - Kids'

Hard to say without knowing the size of his head, but I'd bet that these will be too small for him. You're probably better off with a pair of adult goggles in size small so he can use them for a few years. If you have a shop near you, you can always go in and have him try on a few different sizes and brands to make sure he gets one that is comfortable for him.

Ruffwear Web Master Dog Harness

January 7, 2011

Don't go by your pup's weight. Measure her girth, which is around the widest part of her rib cage. Once you have the measure, check the sizes listed in the product description on the right side of the page. If she fits between two sizes (ex. she measures 28 inches. She could therefore go for either the Small at 21-31 inches or the Medium at 26-36 inches) I'd recommend going with the smaller size for a tighter and more more athletic fit. If she's still growing than maybe go for the bigger size.

Deuce Brand Classic Watch

January 5, 2011

Marie, you set the time and date using the two buttons on the back of the watch. I'd suggest using the tip of a pen to push them, and I'll refer to them as the top (T) and bottom (B) buttons. To view the date (time is normally shown), push the B button.

1. Press the T button twice and the month appears. Use the B button to adjust the month.
2. Press the T button once more and the day appears. Use the B button to adjust the day.
3. Press the T button once more and the hour appears. Use the B button to adjust the hour.
4. Press the T button once more and the minute appears. Use the B button to adjust the minute.
5. Press the T button one last time to finish the adjustment.

Hope that helps you out.

This bag should work out great for you. At 1lb 14oz the weights is nice and light, and it stuffs down to 7 x 5 inch, so it will pack nicely. As some others here have mentioned, it's a roomy and warm sleeping bag, with the down fill on 3 sides. Smith Transit Pro Goggles

The R36 lenses are all purpose lenses that allow for glare reduction and improved contrast/depth perception. The sensor mirror lenses are the lowest tint of the 3 choices and are most helpful in flat light for color definition and depth perception. The ignitor mirror lenses are designed to work under the widest set of conditions, while having similar benefits to the R36s. My suggestion is the ignitor mirror lens.

Yes, length of the pole is generally from the top of the grip to the end of the tip, so you need to remember that some of that measure (the length of the tip) will be in the snow. Sea To Summit Lite Line Clothesline

September 22, 2010

It's a little hard to see in the stock picture, but the thing sticking out of the bag at the bottom is a small plastic hook, which is attached to the bag. You wrap the line around a tree or whatever and clip the hook on the line - one side is not taken care of. The other end of the line has small plastic cinch for adjusting the length of the line, and another plastic hook that you can move around the line as needed. So it takes a few minutes to play with the first time you do it, but then you get the hang of it and can tighten it up once both ends are attached. The beads do a decent job of holding your stuff to dry, as long as they aren't too heavy or slick.
