Arc'teryx Fission LT Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Fission LT Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 16, 2008

I've had this jacket for a few years and it has served wonderfully, and will undoubtedly stay with me a few more years. It is fairly water resistant, keeping me dry as long as I'm not hiking in the rain. I can never feel any wind through it no matter how cold and hard it blows. And while it's definitely not as warm as a down jacket, it keeps me warm with just a t-shirt underneath down to below freezing.

GSI Outdoor Hard Anodized Dutch Oven

October 8, 2008

Doesn't aluminum melt around 1200 degrees fahrenheit? so wouldn't putting this in a hot campfire time after time eat away at it until a hole formed?

Brunton Firestorm Stormproof Lighter

Brunton Firestorm Stormproof Lighter

Rating for this product: 3 August 22, 2008

its just wrong specs. brunton says its 1.6 ounces (45g). Butane might be lighter than air, if it was at standard temp/pressure, but its compressed and therefore heavier.

Snow Peak Titanium Silverware Set

May 24, 2008

These would be great, but do you really need pricey ultralight titanium utensils just for going to work? maybe if your job were at the LeConte Lodge, then you would need them.

helps a lot pumping up.

Big Agnes Pumphouse Pad Pump

Big Agnes Pumphouse Pad Pump

Rating for this product: 4 May 23, 2008

I find it very easy to pump up my pad with this pump. it is a little tricky to keep it open while you start to roll the top, but it's manageable. Also, when i bought this, i was afraid that the air would just blow back out since you cant get to the valve while the sack is one there, but it turned out that air hardly escapes anyway until that very last pump, and by then, your taking the sack off anyway. After that, it's one or two blows from your mouth to really firm it up and your set for a comfy night of sleep. My only (minor) dislike about this sack is that my BA Insulated Air Core 20x78 pad wont fit in it horizontally. but thats really not too big a deal.

Marmot Hueco Short - Men's

Marmot Hueco Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 May 2, 2008

I really like the material, and the design is top notch, but there's not a zippered pocket. I know it says there is, but not on mine. I guess it was just a typo by backcountry, but I would have liked a zippered pocket. Also, I'm a size 33 and went for the 34, but I should have gotten the 32 because the material around the waist is just elastic covering the belt and it would have easily fit me without the larger size.

CamelBak Unbottle Hydration Pack - 3L

CamelBak Unbottle Hydration Pack - 3L

Rating for this product: 5 May 1, 2008

this thing works perfectly. And it doesn't say it on this site, but you can take the bladder out of the insulated sleeve. it's just a regular Omega Hydrotanium bladder, which makes this a GREAT value considering you get the sleeve and the Ergo Hydrolock mouthpiece for only 5 dollars more than the bladder by itself.

MontBell U.L. Alpine Down Hugger #5 Sleeping Bag: 40 Degree Down

MontBell U.L. Alpine Down Hugger #5 Sleeping Bag: 40 Degree Down

Rating for this product: 5 May 1, 2008

just got this. haven't had a chance to use it on the trail yet, but i've slept in my room and it's great. pros: stuffs very small (slightly larger than a nalgene), very comfortable (elastic system works), and while i'm not sure yet, i feel like i could use it down to its rating. cons: its purple, it looks blue on the website, but its one of those purpleish blues.
